Originally serving as the old railway station ticket office, this unique stone-built property has been thoughtfully converted into a warm and welcoming retreat that blends historic charm with modern comfort. Sleeping up to 10 guests across four bedrooms, The Porthole is ideal for families, groups of friends, walkers and countryside getaways. The spacious layout offers plenty of room to relax and socialise whilst still feeling cosy and homely throughout. The living room is the perfect place to unwind after a day exploring, featuring comfortable seating, and a Smart TV with live TV accessed via streaming apps. The fully equipped kitchen includes an induction hob, double oven, microwave, fridge freezer, dishwasher, washer dryer and breakfast bar, providing everything needed for longer stays and family meals. A separate dining room creates a lovely sociable space for gathering together over food and drinks. Upstairs, the master bedroom features a king-size bed and luxurious en-suite bathroom with both bath and walk-in shower. The remaining bedrooms include a double bedroom with Smart TVs for on demand streaming, a family room with both a double and single bed, and a bunk room with double and single bunk beds, making the property particularly well suited to mixed groups and families. Outside, guests can enjoy the enclosed private garden complete with AstroTurf lawn, decking area, outdoor seating and a hot tub, ideal for relaxing beneath the Yorkshire skies after a day of walking, sightseeing or exploring Holmfirth. Additional features include WiFi, gas central heating throughout and off-road parking for up to three cars, something highly sought after in this central Holmfirth location. Holmfirth is one of Yorkshire’s most loved market towns, nestled within the stunning Holme Valley and surrounded by rolling hills, reservoirs and breathtaking Pennine countryside. Famous as the filming location for the iconic TV series Last of the Summer Wine, the town offers a perfect blend of traditional Yorkshire charm, independent businesses and vibrant local culture. The Porthole enjoys a fantastic central location within walking distance of Holmfirth’s cafés, traditional pubs, wine bars, restaurants and independent shops. The town is also home to the renowned Picturedrome music venue, attracting well-known artists and live events throughout the year, alongside popular annual food, folk and arts festivals. For outdoor enthusiasts, the surrounding area is ideal for walking, cycling and exploring the countryside. Holme Moss, made famous by the Tour de France and Tour de Yorkshire, is only a short drive away and offers incredible panoramic views across the Pennines. The Peak District National Park is also easily accessible, providing endless opportunities to explore moorland, forests, reservoirs and picturesque villages. Please note: • The staircase inside the property is steep and may not be suitable for guests with mobility difficulties • Strictly no smoking anywhere inside the property • Two well-behaved dogs are welcome. • Dogs and young children should be supervised at all times whilst using the garden. • Strictly no cats • The property is located within a peaceful residential area, so we kindly ask guests to respect neighbours at all times • Quiet hours are between 10pm and 9am • Live TV is available in the living room via streaming apps. The bedroom TVs are provided for on-demand streaming services, such as Netflix and other compatible apps (subscriptions may be required). Guest access A driveway of up to 3, maybe 4 cars at a very tight squeeze is available. For any other additional cars, there is on street parking but this cannot always be guaranteed. Other things to note Up to two dogs are welcome, but are not permitted on the upstairs floor. Dogs and young children should be supervised at all times whilst using the garden. I'm sorry, due to allergies, we cannot accept cats. We provide a high chair and child safety stair gate. We can also provide a travel cot, however, we do not provide bedding. Due to steps at the entrance and a steep stair case, this property is not suitable for those with mobility issues. Unfortunately the gas fire is not in use and is not advertised. Live TV is available in the living room via streaming apps. The bedroom TVs are provided for on-demand streaming services, such as Netflix and other compatible apps (subscriptions may be required).
