Solar dos Carvalhos is a typical manor house of Beira Alta, located in the historic center of Sernancelhe. Here was born Sebastião José de Carvalho e Melo, better known as Marquês de Pombal. It was built in the second half of the 18th century by Manuel António Correia de Carvalho, commissioner of the Holy Office, whose coat of arms adorns the main portal. The Solar boasts a careful model of Baroque taste. The Solar is classified as a monument of public interest. The space The interior of the Solar is worthy of a museum. The house is spread over two floors, with a chapel and agricultural accommodations that face a large patio. The entrance is through the door topped by the coat of arms, with an interesting composition in terms of the launch of stairs and large access level to the main room. The Chapel has good finishes, highlighting the altarpiece in gilded woodcarving and an oil painting by Pascoal Parente. All of its furniture is from the early 20th with pieces that still date back to its foundation in the 18th century. For our guests, we have up to 3 bedrooms, with two private bathrooms and access to a kitchen with a fireplace, for great "evenings in the village." Outside, we have a typical bread and barbecue oven, where you can socialize. There are several rooms in the manor house, which can be visited. The chapel can also be visited.
