Description

When we arrive, we duck to go through the door as if paying homage to this centuries-old connection. There was no way we were going to enlarge the door and distort the place. The cottage, located a thousand meters above sea level, continues to blend into the harmony of the mountains. We wanted to make it a quiet and cozy place, warm in winter and cool in summer. It is made for a single couple or with children. The space Everything has been redone with salvaged materials gleaned here and there around this small village where time seems to have been tuned to the rhythm of the pure water source that flows into the fountain and into our taps. A place of rest, relaxation, endless walks, skiing with the Marecottes resort two kilometers away. No question of disturbing the weasels, foxes, chamois and neighbors (very friendly by the way)! Magic works in direct fusion with this wild nature. You can come by train to this end of the world or by car that you park in the church parking lot 50 meters away. You can also leave your vehicle a few hundred meters higher and finish the journey on foot by discovering the village at the bend of the last turn, miraculously perched on this lost flank of the mountain. It's amazing! The train – which goes to the Chamonix ski area – also serves the ski resort and the village of Salvan where you can refuel, have a drink or eat a bite without having to go down to the plain. There are also daily shuttles from the village to the station. The chalet consists of a single 35 square meter room with a double bed in the mezzanine, a bunk bed for two children, a sitting area and the kitchen/dining area. Separate bathroom with toilet, sink and bathtub. A wood stove (wood not included) for those who want it, or dry inertia radiators that will be lit upon arrival depending on the season. In this chalet, there is no question of "chic and shocking" finishing. The floor is made of formwork planks and the furniture comes from the grandmother or grandfather. But it's good to be here! Raw comfort like the stone kitchen sink, super practical despite its two or three hundred years! The secure balcony catches the morning sun. And when the sun turns, we move on to the small front terrace with its bistro table and armchairs to continue enjoying the afternoon sunshine. No, really, it's good to live in this little place where people become peaceful… We just hope that you will have the same pleasure as us to come and recharge your batteries in this place that we are happy to share with you! Other things to note From September 2025, the tourist and accommodation taxes to be paid to the municipality of Salvan are included in the overall nightly rate.
