As you step through the front door of The Burrow you will be struck by the wonderful view, connection to nature and the light and bright living area. This space is an open plan living and dining area with kitchen, which has direct access onto your own patio. Many of our reviews comment on the breathtaking views, proximity to nature, the cosy welcome of The Burrow and the unexpected little touches provided. The kitchen itself is contemporary in style, with white and ash units. Appliances include a fridge (with small freezer box), electric oven, induction hob, kettle, toaster, microwave and Nespresso coffee machine. The dining table and chairs are within the kitchen, with a stylish low hanging light above. Highchair can be provided. Guests often comment how well equipped the kitchen is - if you feel that anything is missing please let us know. The rest of the living space opens out towards the wide French doors, where you can make the most of the view. Comfy sofa, cushions, coffee table books, games, interesting artwork and baby/toddler toys and books - all on hand. The smart TV has Netflix, BBC iPlayer etc if you wish to relax and wind down with the latest binge-worthy series. The French doors then lead to your own patio area where you can enjoy a BBQ, sip a drink, take in the view over the surrounding farmland or watch the birds - deer, sheep, cows and horses can also often be seen. Owls are also a common nocturnal noise here. Plus our two friendly beagles, Chester and Billy, will often come and say hello. Turning back towards the living area, the door will lead you into the cosy bedroom. Again, your bedroom is finished to a high standard. There is a king size bed with deep mattress, high quality bedding, plump pillows, cushions, stylish bedside lamps for night or day time reading. A daylight roller blind for privacy and curtains at the window. A walk in wardrobe with hanging space, full length mirror, iron and ironing board. This wardrobe also contains the connecting door to our house - but it is locked from our side and we will never enter via this door without your prior agreement. If required, there is also space a fold out bed (for a child, not adult) or a travel cot. Both of which we provide along with bedding, with the exception of a sleeping bag for infants - please bring your own. From the bedroom, you will turn into your bathroom. This yet again, is finished to a high standard with full length bath, overhead power shower, high quality towels, handwash and shower gel. Wrap yourself in the fluffy bathrobes after a relaxing shower or bath. For breakfast tuck into a continental selection including granary bread, pain au chocolat, madeleines, butter, jam, marmalade, cereals, muesli, porridge and local whole milk from our village. If you prefer a different milk or bread just let us know. Tea, coffee, sugar, olive oil, salt and pepper are also provided. For those staying 3 nights or more we will make sure you have a bottle of posh, local soft drink to sip and biscuits. Within 5-10 drive is a small Morrisons shop and Tesco Express can be found in St Thomas, or a large Sainsburys in Alphington. Or you can try Mount Boon Milk (30 sec drive) to fill up your glass reusable milk bottle from cows in the village, or buy clotted cream, butter, brownies and cheese. Even try adding syrups to your bottle of milk for a milkshake! All very local. A welcome folder can be found in The Hutch providing local information and this will also be emailed to you after booking, but if you are new to the area and are looking for restaurant recommendations or a taxi to be booked before you arrive, then please let me know. The Burrow is a new conversion (completed Aug 2020) within the ground floor of our house which is a completely self contained garden apartment. Sound proofing has been designed by an Acoustic Engineer therefore noise transference between our space and yours should be minimal. As with The Hutch (our other listing) The Burrow is based upon what we look for in holiday accommodation (style and substance), and therefore hope you won't be lacking in anything. Please note: if booking for 3 people, this is not for 3 adults. The fold out bed is only suitable for a child up to the age of 10 years old. The sleeping arrangement is for two adults in a king size bed and one child maximum (either in cot or fold out bed). The Burrow can be booked along with The Hutch for two sets of friends or family members to enjoy a joint holiday but with your own personal space to return to at the end of the day. Parking for one car is off the road just outside your front door, this area is shared with parking for The Hutch opposite. Additional parking can be arranged at our property or along the road (a 2 min walk). Guest access The whole of The Burrow space is yours exclusively, including the outside patio area. Your home from home is located just off a quiet country road, with parking for one car right outside your door, meaning unloading your bags is nice and easy. More parking is available for free along the road a 2 min walk away. The lower parking area is solely for guest use and is shared with guests staying in The Hutch, our other listing. Wifi is free and available in The Burrow - password is in the Welcome folder. The Burrow's outside space is within our own garden but your patio is for your own use. Chester and Billy (our dogs) may make an appearance in the garden and woof their hellos. Other things to note Although The Burrow feels very much in the countryside it is within a short 10 min drive to Exeter. The best of both worlds - escape the hustle and bustle but know that all of life's conveniences are on your doorstep. Sainsburys is a 10 min drive away, a smaller Morrisons Daily just 5 min drive and two good local pubs within 8 min drive. Longdown is served by the 359 Countrybus which stops at the bottom of our road and takes you into and out of Exeter. Taxis are reasonably priced too. The Burrow is a self contained apartment, within the lower part of our home. As such, there is a locked, connecting fire door between our side of the house and your space (this door is within the wardrobe of the bedroom - we nickname this the Narnia door!) We NEVER enter The Burrow via this door, when guests are staying. Sound proofing was designed by an acoustic engineer and therefore sound transference from either us above, or you below, should be minimal. Essentially, it is no different to a regular apartment. Supermarket deliveries can be arranged, meaning you can book your food shop to be delivered to your door. Several takeaway food places also deliver to Longdown - check out JustEat. If you have an EV car and wish to charge it during your stay, please let us know. We appreciate this is increasingly becoming a benefit to guests so they can enjoy their break without wasting time charging in a car park, nor have to worry about looking for charging points locally. We are now pleased to offer a Go Zero Charge point outside our front door (this is for our own use, as well as guests). If you wish to use this service we will send you a separate document with the details of how to use and pay for it. Many guests how easy it is to use, but we are always on hand to resolve any issues if they arise.
