Briggs Farm is a family-owned outdoor adventure and event destination encompassing 560 acres of wooded bluffs, meadows, farmland, and creek bottoms. The farm was one of the first in Winona County; today, the Briggs family maintain a small herd of grass-fed beef cattle on the farm, but most of the property is managed to attract wildlife. Whether you’re coming for a one-day event or staying a week, host Steve Briggs wants you to have the best experience possible. This is a rustic country farmhouse that sleeps up to ten in three bedrooms and on a fold-out bed in a common space off the living room. The home includes all the essentials: bath, shower, full kitchen, dining area, satellite television (okay, that last one might not be "essential," but nice on a winter evening). The farmhouse, which dates to the 1930s, is decorated with a mix of modern amenities and antiques. The house includes a porch, a deck, and beautiful views onto the bluffs of Cedar Valley. See our extensive photo gallery here, or the video tour of the farmhouse on our website, for more details. You'll have full access to the house and the entire property's 520 acres, including 20 miles of mowed trails. The stairs to the two bedrooms on the second floor are steep and not recommended for anyone who has significant difficulty climbing stairs. This is a working farm with farm equipment and equipment sheds, a cattle pasture, and a small creek; common sense monitoring of younger children is recommended. This is a working farm, but Steve and his family live in town, so much of the time you'll be on your own, although Steve is always available by cell phone, and does spend considerable time working on the farm. Cedar Valley features the Cedar Valley Country Club three miles down the road, with dining and golf. Winona, 25 minutes by car, features two universities, many activities, festivals, and shopping. People get to Briggs Farm by car and by bike; it's 25 minutes by car from Winona. Please be aware that there is good cell phone reception but no landline phone on the property. There is no wi-fi, and no air conditioning. We have two large white guard dogs who roam the property outside to protect the chickens and sheep from predators; they are very friendly, and quite used to guests and strangers...once they say "hi," they will stay out of your way. We also have some outdoor cats and chickens who roam the area around the house. Please, no smoking and no pets, for their safety and the safety of our farm animals.
