Description

Cleaning fee $10-$15. Recently renovated, 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, early 1900s Midtown Memphis space, within 1 block of Overton Square, the most popular entertainment district in Memphis in the 70s and 80s, back in a big way the last several years. One bedroom with a queen bed plus a queen futon, one bathroom, no tub. By inquiring and booking you acknowledge that you have already read and agree to abide by all requirements on the house manual/rules page. I look forward to hosting you. The space The house is a renovated, 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, early 1900s classic Midtown Memphis (MEM) space, within 1 block of the Overton Square entertainment district. It is an entire apartment/home that is half of a duplex. See the "Other Things to Note" under the "Extra Details" section for a detailed list of close food and entertainment options, organized by topic. This space is rare in its proximity to the music, food, and atmosphere of Overton Square, the heart of Midtown, which is within a few steps. And all of Midtown (Broad, Cooper-Young) and downtown is accessible within about 5 minutes by car. Free wireless internet (password secure) and satellite television is available. There is one parking space. Parking on the street is free and there is generally plenty of it. Parking on the street is as close to the house as parking in the parking space. I park on the street. As the bumper sticker says "Midtown is Memphis". I am relatively new to MEM myself and have fallen in love with it. The bumper sticker is true. Downtown is great too --> Midtown is Memphis. Overton Park is a couple of blocks away, including a walking/running trail. Within the park are the Memphis zoo and Levitt Shell (open air theater popular for live music). If not walking to Overton Square: public bus route, Uber, Lyft, cab, ride the "Roo". All of MEM proper is within 5-10 minutes. Look these up online for details. If anything is less than desirable at the house upon your arrival or during your stay, please let me know and I will do my best to fix it. I cannot foresee every eventuality and cannot fix things if not aware :) I live next door so at your service. Guest access Guests have exclusive, undisturbed access to the space. Whatever you need otherwise, I am at your service. Safe, busy neighborhood with lots of dog walkers, joggers, restaurant patrons, neighbors, lighting, 1 guaranteed parking space, plentiful street parking immediately in front and to the side, and a lovely front porch for taking it all in. If I’m able I like to welcome guests to my house in person as I live next door. Other things to note Lists of offerings within a short walk or 5 minute car ride (these are highlights only and all locally owned, Memphis originals (I believe)): Coffee shops (and breakfast if you want it): Otherlands Tart (French style bakery) Java Cabana Cafe Eclectic Republic (CLOSED) Live music (most serve decent food, call venue or check Memphis Flyer for complete listings, genres, etc.): Levitt Shell (open air amphitheater) Lafayette's The Cove Bar DKDC (tiny & a band = crazy crowded) Otherlands Young Avenue Deli Blue Monkey Bosco's (Sunday Brunch only) Park and Zoo and Movies (all walking distance): Overton Park Memphis Zoo (@Overton Park) Malco movie theater Breweries (that serve on site and do tours & tastings & such): Memphis Made (on Cooper not far from house) Wiseacre (on Broad not far from house) High Cotton Late food (until 1 or 2 --- most bars close @3AM): Slider Inn Local Blue Monkey (hot wing rolls!)
