A meeting of traditional Japanese design with modern luxury. The Kura is the perfect way to enjoy the Nagano countryside, whether you are here for the snow or enjoying the breathtaking scenery in the warmer seasons. The space A unique place to stay, this renovated Kura was once used as a storehouse. With thick earthen-walls they were considered to be fire proof, thus being the best way to store your valuables or in some cases, food. It has been renovated in such a way that you can still feel it's history, but without sacrificing luxury. The main room is an open plan kitchen/living room, with large south facing windows letting light stream in. The sleeping areas are on the second floor, with futons on the tatami available for children. For those who enjoy cooking, there is a full modern kitchen installed. The bathroom is a Japanese style wet room with a large bath tub. The vanity area also has a washer/dryer (detergent provided). The toilet is a high tech Japanese one with heated seat, jet wash etc. Guest access Guests have access to the whole building. Any storage areas which are for staff use only will be clearly marked. Other things to note In the case of heavy snowfall it may be necessary for one of our staff to clear snow from the roof of the Kura.
