Wherever you stay in London involves travel to the main sights, there is no avoiding this unless you stay in Buckingham Palace. Penge East railway station is nearby, a 12 minutes walk. Crystal Palace railway/overground station is near, 15 minutes through the park. Bus stop is 30 seconds walk away on the main road. Buses 176 and 197. They go to the centre and are cheap but slow. Nearest airport Gatwick. Then Heathrow, Luton and Stansted. Check your travel. "Transport for London" is a really good journey planner.
