The street Davis Road is named for Muriel B. Davis the owner of a large apple orchard which has been replaced by a neighborhood of homes. Unfortunately there were no apple trees left when I moved into the house so I planted some, a Granny Smith and a Macoun Apple tree as well as a Bartlett pear tree. All seem to be doing well. The neighborhood is very quiet w an occasional fire truck wizzing by. A short 3-4 block walk will bring you to a brick oven pizza carry out, a breakfast /lunch soup and sandwich shop, wine & liquor store, a beauty shop and Chinese takeout. On the way you will pass a small park w baseball diamond, play equipment, tennis court and a duck pond. Walking in the opposite direction a 15 min walk will bring you to Lake Mohegan with walking trails, streams w bolder outcrops where water cascades through. A bridge with seats crosses over the stream for meditative reflection. Summer or winter it’s a beautiful excursion. Within one mile There is a branch library and Jr High School with more tennis courts and huge field for soccer, kite flying,or whatever. A golf course that is open to public and in 1.75 mi. There is a high school with outdoor exercise gizmos and a track. Add to that TraderJoes, grocery, ethnic food establishments, from gluten-free to vegan, gifts and clothing stores and that does not include a large shopping mall that is a 10 min drive away. Don’t forget we have a shoreline and several beaches( auto restricted to residents from Memorial Day to Labor Day. But u can walk in or ride a bike in no problem so bring a bike if u drive. Fairfield has two train stations for convenience. Please note that it is an old house that has an occasional squeaky floor boards, antique-ish style furnishings and some colors may be a mix of the 50's or 80's. It is a vintage house, it's almost like going home to Mom's or Grandma's depending how you look at it!! I think it's more like an adult hostel experience. Not a flashy ultra modern decor just clean & quiet. Please note that all rooms fees are for single occupancy, there is a charge for an extra guest which is noted in the pricing area or just inquire through the Airbnb reservation communication thread. Guests include friends, family, girlfriends, boyfriends anyone outside of your reservation is a guest and must be acknowledged/approved by the host or through Airbnb. PLEASE NOTE: if it requires a match or fire to light it is not allowed this includes, cigarettes (also vapor or E-cigarettes), pipes, incense, candles. etc. MOVING FURNISHINGS: There is no moving of furnishings or rearranging of the rooms decor. No removing of mattresses and placing on the floor, blocking windows with objects/furnishings or bring furnishings into the house/room with out consultation of Host. No bringing plug in items like, space heaters, microwaves, coffee machines, hot plates, refrigerators into the house/room with out host approval in writing on your reservation thread. Outside of your phone, laptop, elect. toothbrush, hairdryer or shaver. get an o.k. from Host. Guest access PLEASE READ COMPLETELY PRIOR TO BOOKING KITCHEN: *****guests may use the kitchen, there is no frying or cooking anything that is greasy in kitchen. or creates smoky conditions. Top of stove use only, no oven use for any reason. The KITCHEN RULE here is "WASH, DRY & PUT AWAY" . No soaking pots/dishes, no dishes left in drain rack, no splats or stuck on food on stove top, counters or table., no storing food in the pots when others may need. Bring your own, plastic storage containers, paper towels, plastic bags and wraps. When you finish in the kitchen it is to be left clean and clear for the next persons use. Plan quick meals so other guests have a chance to make meals. There is no room for storing cases of water bottles, 6 paks of anything in frig. unless you forfeit your food space and it doesn't impose on others space. WASHER : Is available for a fee, $10. wash &dry of each wash load or you can go to the local laundry about 2 miles away, you can use my clothes line to dry. Fee is Payable at time of use. The laundry will be available one day a week to be determined. Bring your own laundry soap, no dryer sheets can be used in my dryer it gums up the sensor. MISC. INFO> There is a glass front cabinet in kitchen with items available for use by Airbnb guests, fry pans and pots, dishes, some breakfast food items that I share. A full frig is available for use in the kitchen, it is divided into sections so each guest has their own space, and there is a shelf labeled that has items to share. Do Not come in with a Cosco order there will not be enough room. There is a perk coffee pot, french press & expresso pot. available. SITTING ROOM: There is a sitting room off kitchen for relaxing but not for eating in. There is a deck available for lounging, eating out or sunning. There is a grill on deck but must be cleaned after use. MAIL: Guests do not have access to my mail box, do not forward your personal mail to my address, or go in it for any reason. make arrangements for a post office box. PARKING There are 4 parking places in yard, 3 on black top and 1 along fence near curb on grassy area.Never is it allowed to park any place else on property and do not block anyone in, If all places are taken park on the street, it is allowed and has been a safe place. Parking is on first come basis I get bumped many times. If you do not understand anything mentioned above or something not mentioned please contact me to discuss prior to making a reservation; or for clarification during stay. PLEASE NOTE: Your reservation is for your access only, it is not a revolving door for friends, family, girlfriends, boyfriends, children...etc. To come hang out, change clothes, dinner parties, or sleep over. Do not bring anyone or anything (furniture, tv's, heaters, cooking appliances etc.) into the house without written permission or it be noted on your reservation. thank you. Other things to note LONG TERM GUEST CLEANING FEE: Guests staying 30 days or longer will be charged an additional monthly room cleaning fee of $30 each month after their first months stay and will continue each month until their check out date. This includes the cleaning and fresh sheets.
