Rural peaceful house close to beaches and golf

Our French holiday home is 12km form the sea on the west coast of France half way between La Rochelle and Bordeaux. It is a typical Charantaise style home. It is in a rural setting in a small hamlet of houses close to the town of Cozes . It is located 16km from Royan which is a lovely seaside town that is very popular with tourists. Cycle or drive to the very pretty walled town of Talmond and admire the carelets close to the clifftops as you walk beside the vines and view the estuary. The space Number 4 Rue du Poteau is a typical Charentaise style house located in the Charente Maritime region. It is located at a 6 hour drive from the ferry at Roscoff or Cherbourg. There is a very seclude back garden which has many fruit trees. You have lovely quiet roads to walk in from the house plus off road walking in the forests. In the summer the fields are abundant with crops of barley, oats, sunflowers and grapes. It is located 16km from Royan which is a lovely seaside town that is very popular with tourists. Royan has a wonderful marina where you can hire jet skis, sailing boats or take a trip over to the left bank of the Gironde estuary to visit the famous Bordeaux wine vineyards of the Medoc. There are other smaller ports such as Mortange and Meschers. There is also an excellent zoo, golf course and a very good garden to visit. It has a fantastic market everyday where you can choose lovely cheese, wine, fish, meat and vegetables. There are two restaurants to choose from in our local village of Cozes . The St Pierre is a traditional French restaurant and the Saigon is a really good Vietnamese restaurent. There is also an excellent Pizzaria in the town. You will also find a Brasserie at the roundabout on the Bordeaux road. But you have numerous to choose from in the surrounding villages and towns. We have a very nice pub in town call La Rouge where you can get a simple breakfast as well as go for an appero or a coffee. You will find very helpful staff in the tourist office in Cozes. There are two boulangeries in Cozes as well as an excellent one at the roundabout on the Bordeaux road. We have a market every Wenesday. A favourite destination is Le Cottage in Vaux sur Mer and the seaside walled town of Talmond. The 2 nearest airports are La Rochelle (1.25 hours away) and Bordeaux (1.5 hrs away)The nearest shopping town is Cozes about 4 km from the house. This town has a very good SuperU and all the amenities you need such as shops, banks, pharmacy, swimming pool and tennis courts. Guest access The whole house is available to you. There is a key box for easy access. The garden is 1/3 acre so you have plenty of space to relax or play boules. You can also use the bicycles that are in the shed. If its cold in the evening you can light the log fire in the sitting room. I always leave basic food such as tea, coffee, flour, sugar for guests in the house. Other things to note Our home is a great location to relax in but is close to many beautiful towns and cities if you feel the urge to explore. Take the little path behind our house to immdeiately be in fields of corn and walk among the vines. La Rochelle and Bordeaux are short drive or train rides away. The beautiful vineyards of St Emilion , Margaux, Michel Lynch and the the distilleries of Cognac are short drives away. Each year you have a classical music festival in Royan. Un Violon sur Sable. You have 3 open air free concerts with a fantastic fireworks display at the finish. Apart from the 3 large concerts you have many more at different locations. This festival is at the end of July each year.
