Chamonix Centre - 2BR Fireplace - Wifi - Calm
Chamonix centre 2BR - Fireplace, stone walls, balcony with View of Mont Blanc
Description
Enjoy a stay in our beautiful rustic style apartment inside a lovely old stone building in the historic town centre pedestrian zone of Chamonix Mont Blanc. Welcoming fireplace. Close to the skiing (walk to Brèvent-Flégère), hiking and all the shops and restaurants. Our private balcony on the river has beautiful views of Mont Blanc and is well protected from street noise. Go car free - 3 min walk to to the free buses. 5 min to SNCF train station. 8 minutes walk to inter-regional bus station. The space Apartment Kayla is a beautiful 65m2 two bedroom apartment on the ground floor of a 300 yr old building set along the bank of the Arve river in Chamonix town centre. It has metre-thick natural stone walls and a lovely closed cast iron fireplace. The fireplace helps heat the apartment in winter. There are additional electric heaters in the bedrooms, bathrooms and living room. Firewood for daily use is provided in winter season. Our lovely balcony along the river has views of Mont Blanc and the town centre of Chamonix. The apartment features exposed natural stone walls in the living room and back bathroom, and has Italian tiles throughout. The balcony gets morning sunlight. Layout: Bedrooms: There is 1 double bedroom and 1 family bedroom with 2 bunk beds. Each bedroom has plenty of storage space for luggage and longer stays and are not cramped - you can walk around the beds with ease. Living area: The sofa in the living room pulls out into a double sofa bed if 2 couples want to share the flat and a door allows the living/dining area to be closed from the rest of the apartment. Bathrooms: There is a shower room off the hallway across from the double bedroom and a separate WC near the front door. En suite to the family bedroom is a bath/shower with a second WC separated by a door. The second WC is new, with the back bathroom having been extended and completely renovated in 2016. Kitchen: The small galley style kitchen is equipped to serve 6-8 people and features an American style refrigerator. The kitchen does *not* have a dishwasher nor a microwave. (We chose to have more storage space for food and dishware). Pedestrian Zone: We are located on Rue du Dr Paccard - this is the Chamonix high street and is a bustling pedestrian zone full of shops and restaurants. In summer street performers and musicians set up in the many plazas to entertain visitors. Because the apartment is tucked in back of another building and borders along the river rather than the street, it remains a peaceful oasis in busy town centre. The glacially fed river keeps the apartment cool on the hottest summer days. This historic town centre is closed to cars except in the early mornings until 10h. Parking is not included with the apartment, but underground parking is available a few minutes away in municipal car parks (Parking St Michel is covered or parking L'Outa is closest). The Chamonix mayor has been reducing free parking over the years to encourage people to use our free public transit. Our pedestrian zone street allows traffic in the early morning for loading your car to depart and closes to traffic at 10h. You do not need a car when living in town centre of Chamonix so you can park your car and leave it for the week if you like in a lower priced car park such as the Grepon on the edge of town. There is a free local bus system that serves all the mountain lifts and there are several local SNCF train stops along the valley. Guest access The price includes bed linens and bath and kitchen towels as well as full internet access, DVD-Blue Ray player, French internet TV with several English channels such as BBC Entertainment and news channels. Many channels will show movies in the original language (English, German etc.) by using a menu setting. Also includes all local utilities and the local Taxe de Séjour. Netflix is also available on this TV service. We will give you the Chamonix "Carte d'Hôte" on your arrival. This card is good for free public transit and gives you a discount in some local sites such as the local swimming pool and museums. Other things to note Outdoor activities include: Cross country skiing, ski touring, alpine skiing, hiking, husky dog sledging, ice climbing, rock climbing, trail running, mountain biking and snow shoeing. Most of these are subject to weather conditions. Check the Mont Blanc Natural resort web site for lift openings, and the Chamonix office of tourism site for weather and other information on local events. We do need to meet you in person to let you into the building because it has an electronic key to enter, not a passcode. Before departure, we kindly ask that you put the towels and linens that you used into one of the bathrooms, on the floor, to make it easier for the cleaning staff to gather more easily. We wash all the bed and bath linens, rugs etc. in the flat between guests including the pillow and mattress protectors. Only the beds that you are sleeping in will be made up before your arrival. Please be sure to let us know accurately ahead of time how many people require bedding and bath towels during your stay, even if you only have a guest staying for 1 night of your visit, so that we can provide the correct number of linens. We supply the flat with hand soap and shampoo for your use. We provide cleaning supplies and cleaning cloths in the flat for your use. Please put any used cleaning rags into the dirty laundry pile before your departure. There is Netflix and Amazon on the internet TV service, available for use with your own account. If you believe that you have been exposed to a virus or have become ill during your visit, please inform us as soon as possible before your departure, as we will need to consider cancelling the subsequent booking to protect the health of the next set of guests.
