This cozy cottage, with it's rustic charm (attached to a single-family home) will instantly make you feel like you have taken a step back in time to a simpler quieter pace of life. It has two private entrances, a private yard, and plenty of parking. The BEST part is the gorgeous waterfall just outside and the breathtaking views of Cayuga Lake, Cornell, and parks below. The cottage has a master bedroom (two steps up from the living room) with a queen-size bed and a big window overlooking your very own waterfall! Please note the ceiling is low in the bedroom. Very tall guests (6ft) may have to duck inside the bedroom. The front door enters into a living room with plenty of natural light and scenery (about five steps up the front porch.) Two futons can become full-size beds as well. The dining nook can also be enlarged by adding leaves to the table to seat up to 6. Comes with a full kitchen with stocked refrigerator and all the needed appliances providing all the convenience of home. A full bath with a shower/tub. Guests have their own private yard right next to the backyard waterfall. Mosquitos can be a bit tough in the summer months. We do provide bug spray as well as four outdoor citronella torches with fuel provided as well. There are 50 acres of woods a short walk from the cottage with a path down to the Black Diamond Trail, that guest are welcome to explore, printed instructions to this trail are found on the fridge. You can access Cass park from this trail, the Farmer's Market, Children's Garden, and for the very adventurous, an 8 mile hike to Taughannock Falls. You have your own grassy yard outside the cottage. You can sit and enjoy a picnic just outside next to our very own waterfall. (Listed in Ithaca's Must-See Guide see picture) You are only 1 mile from town! Close enough to walk if you desire, or catch the bus at the top of the road. We are just above Cass Park and now have a path to walk directly from the property through the adjacent woods down to The Black Diamond Trail, which will take you either to Cass Park (and dog part) or for those who are really adventurous, the other direction takes you to Taughannock Falls, about an 8 mile hike one way. The cottage is attached to a multi family home, which is two separate apartments, one apartment upstairs and one downstairs. The two main apartments are vacant. Should you book with us, the entire back cottage would be all to you, there is no access to the main home. Lock box is found mounted on the porch and the code will be inside your booking details after you book. This check in letter includes lots of information for your stay so please take a look. If you will be coming in after dark we will be happy to leave the porch light on for you. Other information: Please note - we are only 1 mile from downtown, on a quiet cul-de-sac, and butted up against acres and acres of woods overlooking Cayuga Lake. However, it is still a residential area. If you are looking for total seclusion you will need to look further out of town. Rather than list numerous rules, we simply expect guests to leave the cottage as you found it. That is - garbage bagged up and taken out, dishes done, and everything picked up and tidied. No need to make the bed before you check out as we will be stripping it anyway. Make yourself at home! But please respect the space, your neighbors, and each other :) Plenty of parking, space to walk, and and plenty of space all around! You have your own grassy yard outside the cottage. (Listed in Ithaca's Must-See Guide) Regarding the interior of the cottage there is a large storage closet off the living room in which you will find extra dining room chairs, a mattress topper for the large futon, a pack-n-play, and booster seat. In the bedroom closet, you will find plenty of extra bedding for the futons or bed, in the three drawer cabinets. In the bedroom closet as well, upper shelf, you will find lots of extra pillows for the futons. In the kitchen there are pots and pans stored in the cabinet next to the stove, as well as frying pans, cutting board, and cookie sheet in the lower cabinet. Tea kettle is in the cabinet above the oven, and toaster on top of fridge. Microwavable dishes are in the cabinet above the microwave. The TV is a Roku tv with access to Netflix as well as many free channels for your enjoyment. Please keep in mind, it is a family network so keep content appropriate. We also have an outdoor fire pit and grill for your use.
