Train Whistle cottage is a grand old Dame with her quirks and homely feel located in the beautiful Dandenong ranges close to many wedding venues and our famous Puffing Billy train and not to forget our lovely forests with many birds, wildlife, mountains and cafes. The space Train Whistle Cottage is a 3 bedroom self-contained cottage suitable for 6 guests in beautiful Emerald. Catering for families and their pets (conditions apply) Train whistle cottage offers a fun stay for all. The property is fully fenced so children and their pets can play in the yard (parents and owners own responsibility as some children or pets might find a way to escape 😉) under the gorgeous Japanese maples. As you enjoy your stay at Train Whistle cottage you will hear the ever so gentle Whistle of Emeralds famous Puffing Billy train blowing as it makes its way through Emerald on its way to the lovely cute town of Gembrook. A 5 minute walk takes you to Puffing Billy Station where you can board the train to either Gembrook or Belgrave. Only a 3 minute walk from Train Whistle Cottage, you can enjoy the many café’s, restaurants, and shops that Emerald has to offer. Train Whistle cottage is in a great tourist location, within half an hours drive, you can visit the vineyards in the Yarra Valley, the nurseries in Monbulk with its world famous Tulip Festival in September/October hike through Sherbrooke forest with its huge gum trees, Lyrebirds etc. Enjoy the view from the summit of Mount Dandenong over the city of Melbourne, and if you are adventures you can climb the 1000 steps from Ferntree Gully to Sherbrook, visit Cardinia Damn where you can see Kangaroos, these are just a few things you can enjoy of the Dandenong Ranges and surroundings. For the children and the young at heart, there are a few parks within 15 minutes walk of Train Whistle cottage, 5 minutes to puffing Billy park and a 10 minute walk to Emerald lake park, where you can find Walking tracks, playgrounds, Amphitheatres, picnic shelters and murals. The Emerald Museum showcases photographs, documents and memorabilia through the years from Aboriginal occupation to the present day. Guest access Our quests will have the Cottage all to themselves during their stay. Other things to note We have made Train Whistle cottage as family friendly as possible, or can set it up for a honeymoon suite on request, we have some toys for children, a cot and pram for 2 children available on request. As there are a lot of weddings and functions in the Yarra Valley the cottage would be a lovely place for a wedding party to get dressed and stay for as many nights as needed. We are also open to short term accommodation if you are in between moving houses.
