Description
This tranquil forest retreat, nestled in native forest surrounds and yet only 700m from the heart of Warburton, provides the ideal romantic escape with a sumptuous loft bedroom, wood fire and spa bath. The space Sleepy Wombat Cottage is a fully self-contained forest retreat, yet is only minutes away from the vibrant village of Warburton. The riverside township bustles with cafe's and quirky shops and is host to a delightful range of festivals from comedy, film, harmony, Nordic and many more. The romantic spa cottage provides all the cosy comforts for a relaxing getaway. Recline on the sofa in front of a crackling wood fire or sit outside on a balmy summer evening listening to the wildlife or feeding the birds. For the more active minded the cottage is perfectly located close to the Warburton river walk or a few minutes drive to the rainforest gallery and Mount Donna Buang itself. Literally at the bottom of the hill is the locally renowned COG cafe where you can hire bikes to explore the Warburton trail. Golf and tennis are also within a stones throw. The cupboards are well stocked with a selection of teas, coffee and cooking condiments. Picnic basket and rug are ready for you to take on your outings. Deciding on activities is made easy with information on local attractions, maps, menus, bike hire, tours and event calendar available. Torches are also on hand for night-time possum or wombat spotting or to guide you up the track from a night out in the village. Note that the gravel track to the cottage is approximately 700m long & steep in places. It is suitable for all vehicles. Guest access The Cottage is truly a forest retreat and is accessed by a track leading from just behind the main street & police station up through the private property for 700m to the Cottage. The track is a dirt road/gravel and steep in places. It is suitable for all vehicles. We aim to maintain the surrounding forest as a haven for wildlife. The property is fully sustainable for water and uses 100% green electricity. We ask that you respect the environment and minimise your footprint. The property supports permaculture styled local produce growing and there is a small orchard behind the cottage. The cottage is not suitable for young children as there is an unfenced dam on the property and in wintertime the wood fire is a risk to small fingers. Babies may however be accommodated and a port-a-cot is available on request.
