Description
The space Madeira enjoys fantastic summers and mild winters thanks to the Gulf Stream waters that lap our shores. This all year temperate weather makes the island an ideal holiday destination. Once here you will discover the many unique things Madeira has to offer from the outstanding comforts we provide at Banda do Sol Self Catering. Rosemary cottage is the smaller of our two newly built cottages and is perfect for your island holiday! The living area with its vaulted ceiling comprises a well equipped open plan kitchen and comfortable dining area. There is a wonderful flow between this and the glass fronted, comfortably furnished lounge area which opens onto a private terrace; ideal for alfresco dining. And for those occasional chilly days or evenings there is a cosy wood burning stove fireplace central to the living area. The spacious bedroom is well equipped and is fitted with an overhead fan for those still sultry nights. The sliding glass doors that lead out to the garden can be shuttered in the traditional way for extra privacy or for those sensible afternoon siestas. There is a stunning swimming pool area landscaped into the fully enclosed garden. No better place could be found for those days when doing very little but relaxing and enjoying some secluded sunbathing is what you are after. We are within easy driving distance (7 minutes) to Vila Calheta - a lovely seafront area with one of the two sandy beaches found on the island. There is a marina from where you can go whale and dolphin watching or deep sea fishing, a well stocked supermarket for all your supplies, lovely coffee bars and restaurants serving local specialities. Within minutes in any direction other quaint villages can be reached, one where no cars are allowed so renowned for its cobbled streets and perfect surfing conditions; it is here that the world surfing championship has been held! Further along is a traditional fishing village who’s cake shop is so good a visit there is obligatory. Further around to the north of the island one can swim in rock pools after spending a few hours exploring one of the many breathtaking walking trails. Within half an hour one can be in the capital city of Funchal and there savour the many delights it has to offer - not the least the famous Madeira Wine!
