Located in peaceful Kalamar, overlooking the sea, the views from Villa Ohana Kalkan are spectacular. Our home is designed to connect the indoor/outside living spaces with the neighboring Mediterranean Sea and olive tree forested, mountainsides. Accommodating up to 8 guests, the Villa is a 4 bedroom, 4 bathroom home with multiple seating and dining areas, allowing the choice of where and how you desire your family to dine and relax. Includes a stunning rooftop terrace and a private heated pool! ‘Ohana’ means FAMILY in the Hawaiian language…..We warmly welcome you and your family to VILLA OHANA! The outside spaces and gardens are a special feature of Villa Ohana Kalkan. There is a small grove of lemon and orange trees behind the villa and the flowers are stunning along the front wall. Many wedding couples choose to have their pictures taken in front of our beautiful floral display fronting the street. The villa is of exceptional quality with travertine marble terraces, a private pool with large poolside sunbathing as well as rooftop living areas. It is bright and airy, well furnished, fully air conditioned, with ceiling fans as well. The kitchen is nicely equipped and there is also a gas barbeque grill outside. Villa Ohana is a mere 200m from the sea. The views are magnificent from every floor, window and balcony of the villa so you may never wish to leave. That is very possible as most of the local markets and restaurants will all deliver, if you so desire… The accommodation is laid out as follows: Living space: The open plan air conditioned living area extends the full width of the villa and comprises at one end, a fully fitted kitchen and at the other a sitting room area with Satellite/Smart TV. In between the two, the dining space is set up for 4 guests. The kitchen has quartz countertops and includes an oven, hob, microwave, extractor fan, dishwasher, fridge, freezer and water cooler; and is a well thought out and functional space. We have a wide variety of coffee makers, even including a Nespresso Machine (Capsules easily purchased at nearby Carrefour). This level overlooks the pool patio and also adjoins the primary outdoor covered dining space, with lovely views, which serves 10. Also on this main level is utility room (equipped with a washing machine, iron and ironing board) and a toilet/shower room. First floor: The first floor houses two ensuite bedrooms – one is a double and the other, two twins. Both face the ocean and have a large seaview balcony with seating that is perfect for morning coffee. One of the ensuites has a shower and the other is equipped with a shower/tub. Second floor: The second floor is where the huge master suite (with ensuite and fireplace) resides. The master has a large full-length balcony with stunning view of the sea and comfortable seating from which to enjoy. There is also a workstation with a (very distracting) Mediterranean Sea view. Also on this floor is a twin bunk-bed room with its own private balcony and view of the garden and sea. Roof: The top level actually includes a 5th bedroom with one twin bed which can be used if a guest does not wish to share the bunkbed room below. There is also a small kitchenette with a sink, mini-fridge for your cold beverages and a coffee maker. A door then leads out to the large roof terrace. Here you have unobstructed views of both the sea and the adjoining mountainside. On the rooftop there are sun loungers, parasols and a seating area from which to watch the sun set over the mountainside. There is a potted lime tree and some other fruits on the rooftop as well. Outside the villa: The villa has a good-sized private pool with areas to sit and enjoy a cocktail while cooling off in the pool. There is also an option to heat the pool for shoulder seasons. The surrounding terrace has sun loungers and a convenient outdoor shower to rinse off before and after your refreshing swim. There are multiple seating areas with comfortable furniture in both sunny and shady areas. This includes a dining table for 10. A gas grill for your barbeque is included. The gardens are mature and there are many types of fruits and citrus trees. Bougainvillea covers the entire front and are a special focal point of interest. Points to Note: • WiFi internet access is provided • The villa is fully air-conditioned and also has ceiling fans • Spare water tank is available • Daily pool cleaning and gardening services. • A welcome pack is provided on arrival • Pool towels are provided for guests' use • For stays in excess of 10 nights, full cleaning and linen change is carried out weekly. (or more frequently by arrangement). The Villa rental price includes the cost of the normal usage of gas, electricity, water and these weekly cleanings. (If staying for 10 nights or less, there is no mid-stay clean and linen change, although it may be possible to arrange one at additional cost if requested) Also, additional cleaning charges apply if staying for 6 nights or less. Important note regarding minimum requirement of 5-night stay as stated: Please contact us if you require shorter stays so we may make an exception. For a small daily rate, you can request for use of the pool heater during shoulder seasons. The sea, beach clubs, two markets and many restaurants are within 10 minutes walking distance. (yes Kalkan is hilly) Taxis are plentiful. Tours provide transportation as well. In summer, having a car is not recommended in Kalkan due to congestion and difficulty parking in town. If you do bring your car, there is free on-street parking just beyond Villa Ohana Kalkan. Our property manager is a husband and wife team who speaks English and Turkish. They will meet you on your arrival at the Villa, if you arrive before 2100. Otherwise, the keys will be in the lockbox. Code to open the lockbox will be communicated. They will also check in with you after your first night in the Villa, to answer some questions or provide recommendations. They will be on call for any emergencies during your stay in the Villa. We are a mere 200m from the sea. If you do wish to venture out, Kalamar has two Beach Clubs with platform sunbeds, watersports and diving facilities. It is less than 10 minutes walking to the famous Kalamar Beach Club and Kulube Beach club is even closer. Both have excellent seaside dining. Also, less than 5 minutes walking will bring you to Kalamar’s two neighborhood restaurants, House Café and Soothe Bistro & Pizza Cafe. All in all, Kalamar has 10 restaurants within a 10 minute walk. If you want to dine- in or barbeque, it is also 5 minutes walk to shop at the new Carrefour Market. Most local markets, such as CanCan, will deliver to the Villa as well. Out the door and immediately to the right of Villa Ohana, is a dirt track though an olive grove which allows for a quiet morning walk. You may even pass the local shepherd and his grazing flock of sheep. If you wish to go to Kalkan Old Town for souvenir shopping, dining or the Thursday local market, remember that in-town parking is extremely difficult to find in the summer, so an easy taxi ride is the recommended option. Taxi service is plentiful and inexpensive and make a personal car unnecessary. If you do wish to walk, it is an honest 25 minute, mostly level, walk to the beginning of Kalkan Old Town. All along the way, along Kalamar Road, there are also many restaurants and bars to tempt you as well. Day tours are available and plentiful to all nearby sights and attractions. There are shuttle busses to the two best area beaches- Kaputas and Patara. Rental cars are also a convenient option for off-the-beaten-track touring. As travelers ourselves, we understand the difficulty of traveling during this time. If there is a Turkey travel ban, or a significant increase of burden for traveling to Turkey, as imposed by the government, you have our assurance that we will be as flexible as possible in working with you to reschedule your holiday. If necessary, for COVID travel bans, we will even refund 100% of the funds you were not able to claim from your travel insurance (less the Airbnb service charge as this charge is between you and Airbnb). This is on the condition that the reason for cancellation is a travel ban or quarantine restrictions imposed on your Turkish holiday.
