Description

Welcome to your charming 19th-century holiday farmhouse in Brittany. Nestled in the serene French countryside, this spacious home sleeps up to 15 guests, perfect for large family gatherings or reunions with friends. Just a short drive from the cobbled streets of Josselin, immerse yourself in local culture, food, and history. Enjoy sunny days by the swimming pool and evenings filled with laughter and storytelling. Here, every moment is an opportunity to create memories that will last a lifetime. The space We hope The Old Farmhouse is a place you and your family and friends will create special memories and remember fondly. So let's discover the space where we're going to create those memories! -Garden and Pool- Step outside to our sun-drenched garden, where the solar-heated pool awaits. The pool is a private haven, a perfect spot for sunbathing in peace or taking a refreshing dip. Surrounded by a large sundeck, it’s an ideal place for adults to lounge while keeping an eye on the playful children in the garden. This is also one of the most popular parts of our home. Children and adults alike spend hours on end in the pool and then hours on end eating around the BBQ. Many memories have been made in this garden. Won't you join us? The garden is fully enclosed and secure for your family dog. We ask that you please let us know in advance if you're bringing a dog with you. -Bar- The main attraction at The Old Farmhouse is the extremely popular bar area. In this bar, unforgettable evenings are born! Stock it with your favorite beverages, chilled to perfection in our fridges and wine cooler. A lot of our guests enjoy having pool and board game tournaments. Who will be the winner in your group? Later, parents, children, and grandchildren dance the night away to their favorite music. -Bedrooms- Six charming bedrooms, each with their own character and all with en-suite bathrooms, await your restful nights. Two bedrooms are conveniently located on the ground floor, offering easy access and privacy, while the upper level houses four additional bedrooms. The rooms have different arrangements of multiple beds to accommodate everyone comfortably. Our guests often tell us there's something special about sleeping in a historical building, surrounded by the tranquility of the countryside. Under the wooden beams and listening to the silence, you'll have the best sleep you've had in years. -Kitchen- At the heart of our farmhouse is the kitchen - well-equipped with two fridges, a dishwasher, a washing machine, and a large range-style cooker. It's a space where cooking is not just a necessity but a joy. The kitchen also boasts a raclette machine, coffee machines, a toaster, a microwave, and a kettle, ensuring all your needs are met. Gather around the kitchen dining table for intimate lunches or hearty breakfasts, basking in the warmth of shared stories and laughter. -Living Room/Lounge- The large lounge is very much for relaxation, featuring several large sofas that invite you to sink in and unwind. Whether it’s getting lost in a book, sharing stories, or enjoying a movie on the 40" TV, this space is designed for communal comfort. The wood-burner fireplace adds a cozy ambiance, perfect for every evening. -Extra Land- Beyond the garden, across the quiet country lane, lies our additional land. Two fields are at your disposal - one for ball games like football or rugby, and the other a perfect setting for a tranquil picnic under the shade of trees. These spaces offer freedom and a change of scenery. The property enjoys the privilege of space and easy access - the driveway is large with plenty of space for parking. -The Surrounding Area- We are lucky enough to be a short drive from many different villages, towns, and adventures. There are far too many choices to describe here, but let us tell you about a few of our guest favourites. Historical Josselin: Just a short drive away, the '4 flower' awarded town of Josselin is a jewel of Brittany. With its impressive Château de Josselin and ancient streets lined with timber-framed houses, it's a step back in time. Explore the cobbled streets, enjoy the local cuisine at quaint bars and restaurants, or stroll along the banks of the Nantes-Brest canal. In Josselin, you can even rent kayaks, canoes, electric boats, and much more! Nature Walks & Trails: Right from our doorstep, numerous walking and cycling paths and trails meander through the scenic countryside. Whether you're seeking a leisurely walk or a more vigorous hike, the natural beauty of Brittany is accessible to all. The serene landscapes, dotted with picturesque villages, rolling hills, and lush forests, offer a perfect setting for both relaxation and exploration. Lac au Duc: A short drive brings you to the serene Lac au Duc, one of Brittany’s largest lakes, which also boasts a man-made beach. It's an ideal spot for water sports, fishing, or simply a leisurely picnic by the water. The lake also boasts a beautiful walk surrounded by hydrangeas. Cultural Excursions: Dive into the rich cultural heritage of Brittany. Visit the nearby town of Ploërmel, known for its historic architecture and vibrant market. Discover the local traditions, arts, and crafts that make this region unique. Gastronomic Delights: Brittany is famed for its culinary offerings. From fresh seafood to traditional crêpes and ciders, local dining experiences are just a short drive away. Each village and town has its own culinary specialties waiting to be discovered. Active Adventures: For those who seek more active pursuits, the area offers golfing, horseback riding, and cycling opportunities. The rolling landscape of Brittany provides a stunning backdrop for all kinds of outdoor sports and activities. The Brocéliande Forest is a guest favorite. Coastal Excursions: A bit further afield, but well worth the drive, are the stunning coastlines of Brittany. The rugged cliffs, sandy beaches, and charming coastal towns like Vannes and Saint-Malo offer a day of exploration and sea air. Guest access The owners live in a small apartment at the other end of the farmhouse. We'll be there to greet you and show you around when you arrive, but after that, you probably won't see us. We prefer to stay out of the way and let you enjoy your privacy, but we're only ever a knock on the door away should you need anything. With that said, you can access all the areas of the property that you see in the photos. That includes the back garden and pool area, the main building, and the fields directly across the country lane from us. Any areas that are not accessible by guests are clearly sign-posted. Other things to note This property has been awarded 3* by the tourist board thanks to the work we have put into making The Old Farmhouse your home away from home. We can also arrange lots of activities for you - some of our guests have enjoyed a visit from a local sommelier for a wine-tasting session. For others we can arrange beauty treatments and sewing classes - these will need to be arranged in advance so drop us a message before your visit. Registration Details 882 830 607 RCS Vannes
