Prospect House is a handsome, three storey family home with wonderful views of the so-called Gilling Gap from the first floor. Ampleforth is positioned on the edge of the North Yorks Moors, offering a perfect location from which to explore the beautiful countryside and coast of North Yorkshire. The space Prospect House is a handsome, three storey, four bedroom family home and a perfect base for exploring all of the beautiful countryside and coast of North Yorkshire. The house was originally owned by a family of stonemasons who worked on the local churches, houses and schools including Ampleforth Abbey. The name of the house reflects the wonderful views of the so-called Gilling Gap from the first floor bedrooms! Ampleforth has existed as a village since Saxon times and is mentioned in the Domesday Book. The village is situated at the southern boundary of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, just north of the Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and surrounded by beautiful countryside, offering scenic walks and cycling routes right from the front door. Just five minutes' drive away is the pretty market town of Helmsley with its Castle, Walled Garden, Duncombe Park and a wide range of shops, pubs and restaurants. Mason's Cottage (sleeping two guests) is located next to Prospect House Cottage and is also available to book, subject to availability (please see separate listing). Additional Information: Please note there is a low beam at the top of the stairs leading to the second floor level. Up to two well-behaved dogs welcome, restricted to the ground floor please (small additional charge). Children and infants welcome (a stair gate, two high chairs and two travel cots are available on request). Telephone with honesty box. Views from first floor windows. Walks and cycle routes from the front door. Guest access Ground Floor: Kitchen/dining/sun room With an electric oven and separate electric hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. Dining area/sun room with a wood burning stove, a dining table seating eight guests and an easy chair. French doors lead to the patio area which enjoys the morning sun. Utility room/cloakroom With a washing machine, tumble dryer, wash basin and WC. Sitting room With a cosy wood burning stove. Television room With another wood burning stove and a Smart television. First Floor: Bedroom one With 5' king-size bed and en-suite shower room. Bedroom two With a 6' super-king size zip and link bed which can be made up as twin single beds on request. Bedroom three With twin 3' single beds. Family bathroom With a roll-top, free-standing bath, wash basin and WC. Second Floor: (Please note there is a low beam at the top of the stairs leading to this level) Bedroom four With 5' king-size bed and Velux windows. Den/children's playroom With bean bags, books and toys. Shower room With a shower, wash basin and WC. Outside: South facing lawned garden. Paved patio with garden furniture. On-street parking.
