Built in 1890, this former guard's house can be described as an exquisite cottage. Sustainably modernized in 2024, attention was paid to preserving traditional doors, stairs and stone walls with attention to detail. The original floor on the second floor tells its 130-year-old story of the railway cottage. Modernism also keeps what the good old days promise: All rooms are furnished with a high quality sense of antiques, international art and design. The space The Glenbeigh Railway Cottage is idyllically located at the foot of Curra Mountain offering breathtaking views of Coolroe Mountain and the River Behy Valley. The country style kitchen provides all modern features like aga stove. The living room has 4K smart TV and a XboxOneS with a selection of DVD’s and games. A small Studio offers lap-top desk. Free Wi-Fi with high speed internet. The luxurious marble bath has an easy access shower in the first floor, an additional guest toilet and washing machine with a tumbler is in the ground floor. Central gas heating. Cottage style wood stoves in the kitchen and living room. All bedrooms are located on the upper floor. Glenbeigh, on the Wild Atlantic Way, can be reached in 3 minutes by car. Within a radius of 30 miles you can experience a variety of the famous sights of the Ring of Kerry. Railway Cottage was build in 1890. After renovating original features like the 60 cm thick stone walls, a steep stair case as well as the oak floor upstairs was preserved and restored. Please note, that we do not rent the Cottage to families with childern under 12 years of age. The Cottage is situated in the middle of an amazing landscape, idyllically at the foot of Curra Mountain and the forest. Before subtracting points in cleanliness later in your rating, please bear in mind, that spiders and cobwebs are only in a healty home and in this scenic environment simply not avoidable. The latest home improvements were made in 2025: After installing the nine solar panels on the Railway Cottage roof, we now have a battery and provide a wallbox for charging e-cars and e-bikes. The fassade of Railway Cottage is in immaculate white again. In some corners in the garden you find new arrangements. And, like always, new art is added to the Railway Cottage Collection. Guest access For hiking enthusiasts, the Kerry Walk Way leads right along the property. The nearby Behy River offers ideal opportunities for anglers and fly fishermen (a range of rubber boots is available for you). The Rossbeigh Beach can be reached in 3 minutes by car and promises you an endless beach with dunes for long walks, as well as sporting activities such as horseback riding, kayaking, surfing or stand-up paddling. Or visit the original locations where the current Star Wars movies were filmed. Other things to note A CCTV-camera is in place overlooking the outdoor entrance area.
