2nd Floor Apartment in Historic Clayton Building. This building was the home to the Clayton Fire Company until 1968. Central Heat and AC, Wifi and 55" TV with apps, Plenty of off street parking. Walking distance to local coffee shop, local restaurant and parks. Short drive to everything Delaware and Maryland has to offer. 2 large bedrooms, 1 with a queen bed and large windows on one wall. 2nd bedroom has a king bed and no windows that is perfect for mid day nap or anyone that works nights and like to sleep during the day. Public parking in front of building and private parking on side of the building. Short walk to park with outdoor kids toys or stroll 100 yards to the veterans park with gazebo. Historic Clayton Train station right across the street that can be rented also. A short walk to Main street that has cupcake shop, restaurant (Jacks on Main) in the historic old town hall building, or stop in Clayton Liquors for adult beverages. Bring those beverages back to the Apt and sit on the front deck and watch the train or Fire trucks come though if you are lucky. Deck is small but has a small bench and enough room for a couple people to sit and talk. Also the deck has a swing gate so you can leave the front door open and let the kids play in sight of the adults or let the breeze pass though the Apt at night. The living room and dining space outer walls have large windows. Our guests love to open in the spring and fall nights for a nice cross breeze. Host and his family live and work in the The Town of Clayton and available to help with any of your needs. Clayton is a small town with a small town atmosphere. It Is where everyone knows everyone and one of the safest in the state... Walking distance to a small town park, 2 doors down from the 100% Volunteer Fire Department, 2 local restaurants, and short drive to other towns with anything else you might need. Property is located right in center of town with plenty of parking. Firehouse is 2 buildings away and train runs thought town a few times a day. Guest with children love to watch the train come through town or the volunteer firefighters arriving to fire calls. Clayton has a little under 400 fire calls a year. Fire whistle does go off but not all the time or even everyday. Apartment is listed as 4 guests. We base this on 4 adults but more are welcome if children. Keep in mind the Apt only has the 2 beds though. The bed rooms are large enough for blow up mattresses or the nook of the living room is also another space for the kids to "campout" Although this is the old historic house (1905-1968) the current firehouse is at the end of the block. Being a volunteer department they still blow the siren for alarms and everyday at noon (Monday-Saturday). They run 400 calls a year or 33 (approx) a month. So there is a good chance the siren will go off during your stay. Clayton is a railroad town with a lot of history. So the train does go through town a few times a day and will blow the whistle. This requirement to blow whistle at intersections is required by law. Most guest are not bothered by these events and even make the most of them. We have kids at the windows watching the volunteers coming in and leaving in the fire engines. We just like to make sure guests are aware to insure they plan for this and make the most of our little town
