Nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, surrounded by an award-winning Virginia Century Farm of apples, peaches, and cherries lies the Cabin at the Orchard. Stocked ponds for fishing and trails on property. Centered around both VA and NC Wine trails and 15 minutes from Mayberry. The cabin offer a serene and scenic getaway secluded in the middle of the great outdoors. Come enjoy a sunset from the back porch or from Granny’s Perch a look out offer the blue ridge. We believe in living off the land and that started front when beginning by harvesting the cabin lumber from the nearby mountain. The outdoor is peaceful and quiet with a fire pit for roasting marshmallows and awe-inspiring views. The inside and amenities will complete the experience with old-world farm style decor that understands it’s the “little things” that make all the difference. The first floor Bear Bedroom has a king bed with an ensuite bathroom with shower/tub that’s also accessible by common area. The laundry space is connected. The second floor has the Rabbit Bedroom with a queen bed A readers Owl Nook with a hanging swing to enjoy a good book in a fanciful way. The Cow Bedroom offers a full bed and a twin with a writers desk space that could be used for work. The Sheep Bedroom has two twin beds and our beloved quilted rocking chair. The upstairs has a large spacious bathroom with shower and a unique rock platform for an outdoor coming in feel. Outside enjoy a glass of wine on the back patio - the sunsets are breathtaking. For a special treat on the property is Granny’s Perch a overlook tower to see the mountains from a new perceptive. Why not have a picnic there during your stay? 3 miles from the Blue Ridge parkway 13 miles from Andy Griffith Playhouse and downtown Mayberry 19 miles from Mabry Mills 22 miles from Chateau Morrisette Winery 25 miles to Shelton Vineyards Cana and Carroll County offers a wide range of outdoor activities, festivals, music, heritage, and arts and crafts. Start your visit at the Blue Ridge Plateau Regional Visitor Center, located inside the Southwest Virginia Farmers’ Market at the Hillsville exit (exit 14) off Interstate 77 on Farmers’ Market Drive. Parkway access is available at Milepost 199.5 in Fancy Gap, where cool summer breezes and long-range views are plentiful. Music is a central theme in this area’s history. The Crooked Road, Virginia’s Heritage Music Trail, runs through the middle of Carroll County and is also the centerpoint for three of the Road’s major venues – Floyd Country Store on one side, the Rex Theater on the other, and the Blue Ridge Music Center on the Parkway. For one week in August, The Old Fiddler’s Convention, the world’s oldest and largest gathering of its kind convenes in Galax, Virginia. Carroll County’s southwest neighbor, Grayson County, is home to Virginia’s two highest mountains, 5,729-foot Mount Rogers (part of the Mount Rogers National Recreation Area) and Whitetop Mountain (5,520 feet), both of which offer outstanding vistas as well as some of the state’s best bird-watching. Meandering through Grayson, Carroll, Whyte and Pulaski counties and paralleling the historic New River for 39 miles, visitors will find the delightful New River Trail State Park. This 57-mile long state park is part of the Rails-to-Trails Program, which repurposes abandoned railroad right-of-ways into recreational multi-use trails. Bird watchers, be prepared to see over many different species in one day, as wildlife can be seen best from Granny’s Perch. Keep an eye out for anything that may pop in to say hello, such as a rabbit, groundhog, deer, or even the occasional black bear. Here you have the chance to immerse yourself in the world around you. Along with the cabin, Granny’s Perch offers a view rivaled by no others. We have hiking trails and family games for those more active souls, and plenty to enjoy as you stay here at the Cabin at the Orchard.
