Quirky, Luxurious Chateau in SW France

As they say, your home is your castle... and so it is! Whether for a family or group holiday or a special occasion make yourself at home in Chateau d'Oche, located just 45 minutes from Limoges International airport in the lush and stunning Perigord Vert, land of truffles and foie gras in South West France. The space Originally the home of barons (with our own coat of arms) the castle was built on an ancient base from the 1400s. The estate was then totally transformed by a quirky 1800s French Artisan, Master Louis Bourdery, renown for his religious art (he has streets named after him for it) and penchant for all things English. He and his equally eclectic heirs, such as his ghostly white daughter Blanche, left their workshop, two chapels, and an indelible footprint on the property - transforming it from a hunting lodge to a towering gothic tribute that stands in superb condition to this day. The chateau was more recently a summer resort for French Ministers' families before being sold as a 13-hectare private estate. Walking through its halls during sunset and seeing the remaining original artwork --including a self-portrait of their youngest creator-- tells you a thousand stories... if you dare to hear them :-) Guest access Guests will have exclusive and private access to the entire South Wing, one of multiple wings, which can accommodate up to 15 people to include the following spaces - Six Bedrooms including 4 Large Family Rooms Two Comfortable lounge Areas Kitchen With Direct Outdoor Access Equipped Utility room Indoor Dining area Four bathrooms -All With Showers, Baths or Both A Separate WC Spacious Games Room to include Baby- Foot and Pool Table All this grand indoor space is accompanied by an outdoor South facing garden area and access to the Courtyard which can be lit and Barbecue area - ideal for relaxing or for outdoor dining. In addition you may have exclusive access as well to hallways and rooms from the main wing as well if agreed in advance. There are multiple separate wings with up to 17 bedrooms on the grounds. Guests will also have use of the almost 13 hectare estate, including the south wing garden and our immense swimming pool (18m long by 8m wide!). Please note that the pool is not heated and contact us if you require exclusive use of the grounds. Please note: we will be flattered that you like Château d'Oche so much that you may request us to hold your dates before a deposit is organised. However, we are unable to do this, as our various booking platforms may automatically accept a paid inquiry for the same dates and block Other things to note * COVID -19 update * The health and safety of our guests and team is our priority. Pets are permitted at the discretion of the Owner. They will have use of the grounds , separate accommodation but are not permitted in the interior of the Chateau Children are welcome but care should be taken around the pool, and in certain internal areas of the property.
