The Bach is only 5 -10 minutes walk to Mangonui village where you can catch a kingy from the wharf, and if they aren't biting, the World Famous Fish and Chip Shop will provide dinner. There's also a great selection of cafes after your day at one of the many magnificent beaches in Doubtless Bay. The Karikari peninsular has some of the best wind and kite surfing in the country but don't tell too many or it will end up crowded like Shippies with the surf. Choice of two coasts to surf with Ahipara is 40 minutes drive and Taupo Bay 25mins. Doubtless Bay is great for fishing and the launching ramp is one of the best in the north and so close.
