Description

Feel part of the beautiful coast, ocean and tranquil countryside in this unique and lovely south-facing, air-conditioned, barbecue area, design villa with infinity pool, close to the south coast village of Prazeres and 6 Km from the sea. Surrounded by tranquil countryside with panoramic views of the coastline and ocean, and yet very private, this beautifully finished new contemporary villa provides you with everything for a great holiday. Discover the island in this fantastic setting. The space Created by extending an old country stone barn, and designed personally inside and out by the young couple that own the house, both of which are architects, it is open and full of light.The living area is especially lovely to be in, having floor to ceiling glass panes on three sides, and makes you feel at one with the surroundings. You will love the experience of dining on the outdoor terrace or swimming in the infinity pool whilst enjoying those wonderful views. The open-plan living space of sitting area and dining area, mixes contemporary and 50's furniture, is air-conditioned and offers seating for 6 on two leather sofas, and a dining table and 6 chairs. Large plate-glass windows can be opened to bring the outside in, lead onto the south-facing terrace and pool deck. The kitchen is also also part of the open plan living space and is fully equipped with 4-ring hob, built-in electric oven and microwave, fridge-freezer, dishwasher, coffee machine, electric kettle, toaster, hand-held liquidizer. There is a further guest toilet and utility room with washing machine. All bedrooms are doubles and have en-suite bathrooms. One is on the ground floor; the other two on the first floor, and share a large south-facing balcony. The terrace surrounds the house and has dining facilities for eating al-fresco. On the front is the infinity swimming pool and sundeck; on the side the built in barbecue and outdoor table and chairs, leading down to the herb garden and lawn. Infinity pool 7m X 2,6m with maximum depth of 1,40m, environmentally friendly salt-water treatment. Pool heating is optional and has a weekly supplement . Cleaning and linen change is provided every 7 days and all linen and towels are provided, including towels for the swimming pool. During the season, guests are free to pick fruit from the two fig trees that give the house its name. The owners have also planted a herb garden which guests may use for tea infusions or cooking. There is free wi-fi connection and a fire detection system throughout the Villa There is secure parking within the Villa for a car. As in most villas, a hire car is recommended. Casa da Figueira - Fig Tree House is licensed with the relevant Tourism authorities as a "Casa de Campo" This property is registered and has a local lodging license as a "Casa de Campo" (5004) Guest access The village of Prazeres is 1,600 metres (1 mile) away, where you can find local cafés and restaurants, a supermarket, and the medical centre. 2,5 Km away, by the large roundabout that provides access to the expressway and motorway system, there is a supermarket, café/bakery with cashpoint machine, a further café on the petrol station and a further couple of restaurants. The nearest chemist is in the sleepy village of Estreito da Calheta, only 5 minutes drive away (4 Km). A few minutes by car will take you to the resort town of Calheta, 6 Km from the Villa. With its man-made golden beaches, is popular with tourists and locals alike. There is a beautiful marina and a good choice of bars and restaurants, a handful of small shops, a good branded supermarket, a bank and chemist. Calheta is famous for producing the best white rum 'Aguardente', a special ingredient of the typical Madeiran drink 'Poncha'. If you are interested in knowing how the white rum is made, we recommend a tour of the 'Engenho da Calheta' the rum distillery where you can wander around and sample the produce. Centro das Artes Casa da Mudas is a new centre located at the edge of a cliff overlooking the sea and was built to host superb art exhibitions, musical performances and other events. 15 minutes by car east is Ribeira Brava, the largest town before Funchal, and that offers a rocky beach and sea access facilities in addition to a large supermarket and more shops, cafés, and restaurants. The capital, Funchal, is an easy 50 minute drive away on the motorway. The airport is and easy 60 minute drive away. Other things to note From October 2024, the MUNICIPAL TOURIST TAX of 2 euros per night and per person will be charged upon arrival. This is a tax that goes directly to the municipality. SWIMING POOL heating has an aditional cost of 250 euros.
