Description

A three bedroom beach shack in an elevated position overlooking Adventure Bay and South Bruny National Park. Just 100 metres walk to the beach and short stroll to other attractions including the Fluted Cape Walk and Pennicott's Wilderness Tours. The space Our home is in an elevated position nestled into bush land with amazing views over looking Adventure Bay and South Bruny National Park. Our home has three bedrooms, two with queen sized beds. The other with a double/single trundle bed. This room also has a selection of board/card games for the kids. The kitchen is well equipped with all the essentials including electric fry pan, sandwich press, coffee machine etc. Tea, coffee, sugar are provided. There are very basic pantry staples at the house however we recommend you bring everything you want to cook with. For the safety of our smallest guests, we have chosen not to leave matches or lighters in the house. If you wish to use the outdoor fire, we ask that you please bring lighter/matches with you and keep out of reach of children during your stay. The living area features a 55" television and DVD player. A small selection of DVDs are at left the house. There is a three seater couch in the lounge room. . Unfortunately there's isn't room for any other seating in this area. Outside you'll find a gas BBQ along with an old fashioned grill on the grassed terrace. We have resident wallabies who come to the back door each afternoon to be fed and wallaby food is left in the house for you to feed them if you wish. Access to the property is via an elevated driveway that requires some negotiation and can be slippery when wet once you're at the top of the driveway the views will be with it! If you are not confident with the driveway, parking is available at the bottom of the drive adjacent to the shed. The driveway has been improved in recent years but we cannot change how steep it is. Please don't suggest sealing the driveway or changing it as it is cost prohibitive on an island like Bruny Island. NOTE: We do not supply wifi and while we appreciate some people cannot live without wifi while on holidays, due to supply issues on the island we wont be installing it. Both Telstra and Optus have good mobile coverage at the house if you need to connect to the outside world. Due to water restrictions and the cost of tank water, we do not supply a washing machine. There is a laundry tub in the bathroom should you need to hand wash anything. Some photos on this listing are indicative - we do not supply wine or cheese platters. The linen on the beds maybe differ from those in the photos as it it laundered after each guest. We ask that parents supervise their children when at the property this includes when feeding the wallabies. Please do not allow your children to eat or drink on our couch. We've had to replace to couches multiple times due to food and drink stains from children eating on the couch instead of at the table. We have spent a lot of time over the past four years making Bayview Bruny Island Beach House a unique experience for our guests. If you encounter any issues during your visit, please raise these directly with us via phone or email. IMPORTANT: we are on an island with limited resources. We have rules in place at our property for your safety; to keep our prices as low as possible and to allow us to have all the resources you need for your stay. Please take the time to review all the information provided to determine if our home is best fit for your visit to Bruny. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Q: Does the house have heating? A: The house has a large split system reverse cycle unit in the lounge room that heats the whole house. There is also a wall heater in the lounge. Extra blankets are also on the beds. Q: How close is the house to the beach? Can you walk to the beach? A: The beach is at the end of the driveway across the road next to Pennicotts Seafood Restaurant. It is within walking distance. Q: What coffee is provided? A: The coffee machine is available for use and a selection of coffee pods will be left for your visit. If you have a favourite flavoured coffee, we recommend bringing these with you. Q: Do you provide firewood and matches? A: Due to our house hosting little humans regularly, we do not leave matches or lighters in the house. Firewood is not provided, there’s plenty of firewood around if you want to use the outdoor fire pit. Q: Can the driveway be accessed in a normal car? A: Yes, the driveway is steep but can be accessed in a normal small car. There is a tight turn at the bottom of the driveway that requires a wide turn and the driveway can be slippery when wet. The water truck gets up the driveway with no issues. We are aware that some drivers may find the driveway challenging if not used to driving on dirt, but it is cost prohibitive to seal this driveway and would continue to be slippery if sealed so there are no plans to upgrade the driveway. Q: Do you supply wi-fi at the house? A: Due to supply issues on Bruny Island we don’t have wifi connected at the house. There is good mobile reception for the major carriers so if you need to access the outside world, mobile data can be used. Q: Do you supply linen and towels? A: All bed linen is supplied. Bath towels are also provided for the number of guests specified on the booking. Please ensure the correct number of guests are on your booking to ensure enough linen is provided for your visit. The linen is hired to ensure all items are fresh and disinfected. Please do not remove any linen from the house or take the bath towels to the beach. Q: Do you provide bathroom supplies? A: Shampoo, conditioner and body wash and soap are provided. Toilet paper is provided based on the number of guests and the length of your stay. Additional supplies can be purchased at the Adventure Bay IGA. Q: Why don’t you have a washing machine in the house? A: Due to water restrictions and being on tank water, we do not have a washing machine in the house. Supplying a washing machine would result in us having to raise our prices and we’d prefer to keep our nightly rate as low as possible. There is a laundry tub in the bathroom if you need to handwash any items. Please note we do not supply laundry detergent. Q: How do we get the keys to enter the house? A: The keys are accessed via a lockbox at the house. The code for your visit will be emailed to you prior to your visit. Please ensure you check your email prior to your visit as this email will provide you with a lot of information in addition to the access code. Q: What time is check in and check out? A: Check in is 2pm onwards. Check out is 10am. This gives our cleaners a chance to reset the house to ensure it’s clean for your visit and the next group of guests. The cleaners will arrive at the property shortly after 10am to start cleaning. Q: Why do guests need to let you know how many rooms are required? A: Rooms will be made up and accessible based on the number of guests on your booking. We have had to implement this policy due to previous guests bring extra people or using all of the rooms for no apparent reason. The cleaners order linen, guest amenities and water based on the guest numbers in each booking. If you don't not specify, the cleaners will make up the number of rooms based on common arrangements - ie most 2 guest bookings are couples and will share a room. NOTE: IF YOU FAIL TO ADVISE YOUR REQUIREMENTS AND NEED ROOMS UNLOCKED AFTER CHECK IN, YOU MAY BE CHARGED A CALL OUT FEE FOR THE ROOMS TO BE UNLOCKED AND BEDS MADE UP! Q: Do you allow pets at the house? A: Due to the abundance of native wildlife who visit the property, we don’t allow domestic pets on the property. Q: Do you allow extra guests? A: Extra guests are welcome, however you will need to let me know on your booking how many guests are at the house so that the correct amount of supplies can be left for your visit (towels, linen, toilet paper etc). Additional guests are $50 per person, per night. Q: How many guests can stay at the property? A: The house sleeps six adults. Please note that if you are booking for six adults plus children, that one of the guests will need to sleep on the trundle bed. Q: What animals visit the property? A: The local wallabies generally visit the property in the morning and afternoon and are very tame. Wallaby food will be left at the house if you want to feed them. Occasionally, you’ll see rabbits and echidnas drop by. Q: Do you have any supplies for younger children? A: A high chair and port-a-cot are supplied at the house. Some bedding is available for the port-a-cot, however we recommend bringing the linen that you prefer for the younger guests. Q: Is there a bath at the property? A: The bathroom has a shower only, no bath. Q: Is the property accessible to everyone? A: Please take the time to review the photos of the property carefully before choosing to stay. The inside of the property is all on one level, however access to the property is via a steep driveway and steps at the back of the property. The property is in an elevated position. Q: How many people can fit at the dining table for meals? A: There is a six-seat dining table in the living room and two additional stools at the island bench. There is also a six-seat outdoor setting on the deck. Q: Are there shops nearby the property? A: There is an IGA convenience store in Adventure Bay which is 3kms from the house (6 min drive). Pennicotts Seafood Restaurant is across the road from the house. Q: What is there to see and do on Bruny Island? A: If you haven’t been to Bruny Island before, we recommend doing some online research to discover what activities suit you. We provide some recommendations in the welcome information that is emailed to you prior to arrival, however there is a lot to see and do across the island. Guest access Guests have access to the house situated on more than 2000 square metres. Other things to note Our home has a coffee machine for guests to enjoy along with a selection of different coffee pods. If you have a favourite coffee pod, feel free to bring them with you. We do not provide milk. Port-a-cot is available for use free of charge. Please bring your own linen for the cot. A high chair is also available. Linen including bath towels is provided. Please note we do not provide beach towels. Access to some of the bedrooms may be restricted depending on the number of guests on each booking. Unfortunately we have had to implement this due to use of linen, water restrictions and inaccurate bookings. Bruny Island only has small convenience stores at Adventure Bay and Alonnah so it is recommended that you bring all food with you that you wish to cook. We will leave you with enough toilet paper based on your stay and number of guests. We will not restock basic supplies during your visit. Registration Details DA-2019-528
