La Bergerie near Uzès

Love at first sight for this ruin, an old silk factory in a small hamlet in the Provençal Gard area, located between Uzès and Alès. The old elements still present have been preserved (bars on the ground, old frame with tree trunks, wells, etc.) and give the house its charm. Modern comforts have been added (bathrooms, swimming pool, Wi-Fi...). And finally... a simple and welcoming house to meet up on vacation or on the weekend. With family or friends The space It is a sheepfold located in the countryside near the village of Lussan, in the middle of a quiet hamlet in the garrigue. Former silk factory, where you can still see the traces of the six characteristic old chimneys of silk factories that were used to raise silkworms. Former sheepfold, there were still goats 15 years ago. The sheepfold is an old outbuilding of a very large farmhouse, it is not isolated but on the contrary surrounded and close to other old outbuildings of the farmhouse (former chicken coop, dwelling of farm workers, etc.), which have been transformed into dwellings. The unusual layout and the openings to the various outdoor spaces (the courtyard, the south-facing covered terrace, the small shaded boxwood garden, the pool area, etc.) allow siblings, a group of cousins, or a group of friends to get together, but also offer everyone peace and privacy. La Bergerie has been patiently and completely restored, retaining the charm and character of the old and now offering all modern comforts. The heart of the house is its large kitchen on the ground floor (it is the former silk factory) where there is a central island (which allows several people to cook together in a friendly way) and a large wooden table for all the guests to gather around. The sheepfold is built around 2 old cast-iron interior spiral pieces that serve the 7 bedrooms, 5 bath/shower rooms, and living rooms. Two outdoor staircases provide access to the courtyard, the terrace and the small shaded boxwood garden. The many spaces, indoor and outdoor, allow everyone to find space and privacy. On the outside, you'll have: - a 1,700 m² garden, facing south and southwest, with a secure private swimming pool of 4 m x 12 m (electric cover that locks) for your exclusive use, - an enclosed, south-facing courtyard, ideal for gathering for meals or for a bit of reading, - a large covered terrace, facing south, well sheltered from the wind, which is pleasant all year round, especially in spring and winter. The many spaces, bedrooms, living rooms, courtyard, terrace and garden will offer you so many corners to eat, play, read, chat, relax, possibly isolate yourself or just forget about time and enjoy the vacation... Some rooms have double beds, others have single beds. Some rooms have private shower rooms, other rooms will share bathroom or shower room. We can provide baby equipment (cot, high chair, booster ...). The house is rented in free management, it is not bed and breakfasts. The house is in the middle of the hamlet, semi-detached, and there are neighbors nearby, so we ask that you respect the peace and quiet of the neighborhood. It's a great place to recharge and relax, but it's not the place for noisy evenings or midnight baths (no music). Regarding linens, we provide mattress and pillow protectors, duvets and duvet covers. You only need to bring back the sheet, fitted sheet, pillowcases and towels. Guest access You will have access to the entire farmhouse (with the exception of a workshop which remains private). Other things to note The farmhouse is located 5 km from the village of Lussan, about 20 km from Uzès, 20 km from Alès, 20 km from St Ambroix, 20 km from Barjac, 40 km from Nîmes, 60 km from Avignon, 60 km from the sea… Ideally located for sightseeing, discovering Gard, Provencal Gard, Uzège, Cévennes, Southern Ardèche... You can discover and visit Uzès and its surroundings, Pont du Gard, Nîmes and its many Roman remains, Arles, Avignon (and its theater festival in July), the Camargue, Saintes-Marie de la Mer, Aigues-Mortes, Anduze and the bamboo grove, the Cévennes (listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2011), the south of Ardèche… Hike in the surrounding area or walk from the sheepfold. Discover the pretty villages of the surroundings and the Cèze Valley: Lussan, La Roche-sur-Cèze and the Sautadet waterfalls, Tharaux, St Quentin-la-Poterie, etc. Looking for a more sporty vacation?
