The fireplace also supplies the central heating, which makes Casa Rosa also suitable for a winter holiday. Casa Rosa is an excellent base from which to explore eastern Sicily, Mount Etna and its surroundings. The village lies halfway between Catania and Taormina and just 15 kilometres from Acireale (a pretty little city, built on a plateau of lava, that is known for its Baroque churches). Giardini Naxos, a seaside resort with a sandy beach, is just 25 km from Casa Rosa (15 minutes with the highway).
