Description
This small but elegant two rooms apartment overlooking a beautiful Rio to a step (real! ) from Rialto is located in a Fifteenth Century Palace (Palazzo Cavazza Foscari Mocenigo dalle Zogie) in the historic center of Venice. CIN n. IT027042C2TXIY8SUI, C.I.R. code 027042-LOC-10852 and cod. M02704210785. No check-in after 23:00 (11:00pm). No home delivery service listed on Airbnb, except for food delivery, is permitted under Italian law. The space Cavazza Palazzo Foscari Mocenigo dalle Zogie (i.e. "from the beads") is a magnificent late gothic building of the first half of the Fifteenth Century that was donated in 1460 by its owner, Tommaso Cavazza, to the Confraternity of St. Mary of the Charity, then sold in 1487 to Michiel Foscari. In 1491, Pellegrina Foscari, Michiel’s dughter, married Alvise Mocenigo and brought it into dowry to her husband. The beautiful, monumental, but airy, internal court consists of a double order of columns (like a cloister, the higher order closed) with a well with the Foscari’s coat of arms carved on and an imposing "ingresso d’acqua" (“gate from the water”) on Rio del Piombo. Two beautiful lion heads (one of which probably ancient, perhaps even Roman, and another of the XVI century) are placed high on the outer walls of the colonnata and symbolize the power of the Serenissima in its Golden Era. You will reach the inner courtyard of the Palace by a small private marble “fondamentina” (sidewalk on water) that starts directly from Ponte delle Paste (a few meters from Campo San Lio in the direction of Campo Santa Marina), on which you will find the excellent homonymous pastry that will cheer you up daily with one the most exquisite tradition in the City. The small gate of fondamentina and the large inner courtyard gate both ensure privacy and security. Within the court, along the outside edge to the left of the entry, a stone staircase with little marble lions on balustrade is the exclusive entrance of your apartment. Climb the stone stairs outside and few other internal steps (a total of 23, no elevators in Venice!) to get to the first Noble Floor of the Palace. On the landing, to the left, the blue and gold lacquered, glass windowed, door leads to your 50 square metres apartment in Venice. In your apartment you will find two rooms: a 20 square metres living room with mt.5,30 ceiling heights, accompanied by a comfortable three places sofa, two armchairs in the style of Louis XV and a ottoman (turkish sofa) wrapped in esteemed upholstery. Many pillows, also in kilim, will soften your stay. Two large and impressive windows with curtains in soft but "rustego" (rough) flax fabric get to the small XVII Century balcony carved in “Istria” stone (mt. 2.70 x 0.80) facing Rio del Piombo. The balcony is large enough to stay there with two wooden chairs and a small stool. Perfect for a late evening cocktail in June, an afternoon reading in spring, or a warm breakfast early in the morning even during the crystal light winter months. Rio del Piombo and the near Rio della Fava, which insists on the Palazzo facade, are plowed by gondolas or boats goods: this is normal for Venice, but does not constitute an obstacle to the night's rest, which is guaranteed. In fact, if you will stop enough to familiarize yourself with this typically Venetian feature, you will do as Wagner did and you will list in your personal reminders the gondoliers’ calls warning their arrival to colleagues on the opposite side... In the living room there’s the satellite TV. Internet is assured by WI-FI line whose access key you will find written within the apartment or asking to me by mail (PLEASE, ASK FOR GUIDE MAP TO PALAZZO CAVAZZA FROM VAPORETTO STOP, HOUSE RULES, FULL EQUIPMENTS AND INTERNET INSTRUCTION!). The second 16 square metres room with two large double-glazed windows includes the kitchen with an induction 4 burners fire in ceramic glass and an electric oven. There’s also a free-standing refrigerator. No dishwasher or washing machine. The cook equipment is all of good supply and suitable for induction fire - including the moka for Italian coffee - and with several small household appliances, including kettle and coffee maker... Near the kitchen is placed the dining area with a large wooden table and various chairs. On the side of the kitchen there is a small bathroom (no windows inside but potent aspirator for avoid humidity) with wc, washbasin and shower (the hairdryer is available). Air conditioning is guaranteed by a portable air conditioner during summertime. The spiral staircase in blue lacquered wood leads to the 12 square metres loft where is placed the 140x200 cms. bed. In this area there’s a comfortable point of conversation with two chairs upholstered in Chinese silk and a XVI Century bolognese style coffee table. On a corner, you will find two standers for clothes and shelves for shoes and sweaters. BECAUSE OF THE LOFT NO CHILDREN CAN BE ACCOMODATED IN THE FLAT! The apartment supplies are: a set of queen-size bed sheets (for those who remains beyond the week, we will arrange for the change) and a complete set of towels for each guest (small, hands and towel); for the bed there are a lightweight comforter for warm seasons and a blanket for winter. In the corner, there is an ironing board with a folding iron. The apartment is equipped with a small but very powerful vacuum cleaner with brush for carpets. Guest access Guests can enjoy all the one-bedroom apartment and are separated from the rest of the floor for their greater comfort. The inner court is not mine but is a Common Property of the Building: it is of course possible to pass through it but not have parties! Other things to note CITY TAXES are 4 euros per person for the first 5 days of stay. I have an obligation to collect these taxes on behalf of the Municipality of Venice and pay them quarterly. The tax will be requested upon arrival of the guest to whom a regular receipt for payment will be delivered. Only during the whole January (low season), City taxes are € 2,80 per person, per day, for the first 5 days of stay. Registration Details IT027042C2TXIY8SUI
