A compact cottage (30 square metres), the space gives you everything you need for a cosy and comfortable stay. Our guests enjoy filtered drinking water on tap Microwave, double cooktop stove, large fridge/freezer, a Weber Q BBQ, and outdoor heater as well as a brand new AC/Heat pump unit. Blue tooth speaker, DVD player & TV, Oversized garden bean bags for relaxing in the sun. The deck has a modern glass screen to provide shelter and extend your outside enjoyment without obstructing the views of the water. Jan 2025 (UK) This was our second time staying at Flo & Rod’s place, and it was just as great as the first time! We can’t rave about this place enough and the location is superb, it’s Rotorua’s best accommodation hands down. As we’ve said to Flo previously we’ll definitely be back again - and next time for much longer than the last two stays. It’s absolutely perfect for just chilling out, relaxing and soaking up the sun. Our personal favourite thing to do was to have BBQ’s whilst sitting in the afternoon sun and looking out over lake Rotoiti. 10/10 - highly recommend booking! Will definitely be back in the future 🙌🏽 Jan 2025 (UK) Wonderful retreat on beautiful Lake Rotoiti. Stayed here for a leg of our honeymoon and proved to be a real highlight. The shack is small, but perfectly designed to make you feel right at home and with direct access to the lake it’s a wonderful place to step outside with a coffee and enjoy the view. Florence and Rod were the perfect hosts. Very accessible and thoughtful but left us to enjoy the shack in peace too. If I could give more stars I would. Thinking about booking? Definitely do it! Dec 2024 (OZ) We had the most incredible stay at this beautiful Airbnb over Christmas! From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the stunning views and the thoughtful attention to detail throughout the accommodation. Everything was spotless, cozy, and perfectly set up for a relaxing getaway. The property offers so many activities to enjoy, and we loved every moment of exploring and unwinding in such a picturesque setting. What truly made this stay exceptional were the hosts. On Christmas Day, when we had trouble figuring out the stove, they went above and beyond to help us, making sure our holiday dinner was a success. Their kindness and hospitality were truly heartwarming. This was a magical experience, and we couldn’t have asked for a better place to spend Christmas. We’ll be recommending this gem to everyone we know and can’t wait to come back again in the future! Check out our other reviews. Guest access Arriving at The Love Shack, guests have their own parking which is reserved just for them. There is no direct car access to the Shack, guests take some stairs and a concrete path down through the native bush to their very own private garden (less than 1 minute). We have garden lights that will guide your way along the stairs and path. We do advise that a reasonable level of fitness is required to walk the short distance back up the path from the accommodation.(NB: Not ideal for anyone who doesn't cope with uneven surfaces). Our boatshed contains a selection of kayaks, as well as our stand-up paddleboards for guests to use. A good selection of life jackets is provided for guests to wear. We have a jetty which means guests are welcome to bring their own boats or jet ski if exploring the lake, water skiing or trout fishing is what you are into! PLEASE do advise upon booking that you would like to bring either, so we can provide additional information. Guests will be required to launch all vessels across at the public boat ramp (Waipuna on state highway 33) and motor across to the Love Shack which is about 10 minutes away. The Okere Inlet is strictly a 5 Knot zone. We can arrange storage for bikes at the top of the path so you can load and unload straight from your car. Please do indicate when booking if required so we can make provisions. As there is no direct car access down to the Shack, we remind and advise that a reasonable fitness level is required to carry your belongings to and from the accommodation. We keep an umbrella at the top during your stay with us. A minimum two-night stay is in place for the Love Shack along with an additional compulsory $70 cleaning fee which includes all linen as well as recycling and rubbish removal. We have a minimum three-night stay for all Long Weekends, including Auckland Anniversary, Waitangi Weekend, Easter, Anzac, Kings Birthday, Labour Weekend. We have Free Wifi set up, as well as a blue tooth Marley speaker, which you can tether to and use in the Garden. Other things to note Minimum two-night stay at the Love Shack, however, we have a compulsory three-night stay over statutory long weekends. An additional $70.00 cleaning fee includes all linen supplied as well as your recycling and rubbish removal, applies to all bookings. Please let us know if you wish to bring a boat or jet ski, so we can make appropriate room on the jetty for you to tie up for the duration of your stay, and guide you to the public boat ramps available. No pets allowed. We have a number of soft furnishings, rugs as well as a number of nesting birdlife on the water's edge that we want to protect. We do provide free access to a washer/ dryer for stays that are 4 nights and longer. There is no direct car access and you are required to walk your belongings up and down from the Cottage.
