Description
Abbey Croft is a lovely four bedroom barn conversion on the very edge of Shap Village. The house has four good sized bedrooms (King with En-suite, 2 Doubles and a Twin room) all bedrooms are on the ground floor. Upstairs is a large open plan family sitting room and games area. The well-appointed kitchen diner is fully equipped and has a large range cooker. Outside is an enclosed garden and outdoor table -we welcome dog visitors too. The space Abbey Croft is very much a home from home, a place to kick off your shoes and relax either quietly – or surrounded by family and friends. The house is an ‘upside down’ property with all the bedrooms being on the ground floor, leaving the upstairs for open plan family living. On entering the front door you are in a small tiled lobby with lots of space to take off those muddy boots and hang up outdoor clothing. The four bedrooms and family bathroom are on the ground floor. Each bedroom fitted wardrobes, bed linen and towels are provided. Up stairs is the open plan lounge and games area, a place where all the family can get together. A large sofa is sited in front of the multifuel stove to create a cosy zone for curling up after a day in the great outdoors, and the smart TV gives you various viewing options allowing you to log into your own content provider. (the TV runs via the broadband to stream digital channels) At the other end of the living space is our games area - a full size air hockey table can make things quite competitive, whilst there is also the option of watching DVD’s on a second smaller TV. The storage units at this end of the room also hold a variety of games, books and activities that guests are welcome to use during their stay. Our Farmhouse kitchen diner has got all the things you would expect (Fridge, freezer, microwave, dishwasher, range cooker) as well as other bits and bobs such as toaster, coffee machine, stick blender and slow cooker – there are cooking pans , pots and accessories – enough to get together a Sunday roast or easy evening meal! The dining table easily seats 8 in comfort and has a fabulous view out over the garden towards the fells. next to the kitchen the back lobby leads into a utility room (with washer & tumble dryer well as vacuum cleaner and basic cleaning items), there is also a wc and access down a flight of stone steps into the garden. The outside space has off road parking for up to four cars (most important as our lane is very narrow and we do ask guests not to park or unload in the lane itself as it does restrict our neighbours). The garden faces out across fields towards the sunning landscape of the Eastern Lake District. The garden is fully enclosed and gated making it secure for children or dogs. as well as a barbecue area, with a large charcoal bbq (charcoal not supplied) which also operates as a smoker, a lovely rattan garden suite with gas fire pit table (gas supplied) and picnic bench seating. - there are also large beanbags that can be brought outside for lounging in good weather. we also have a small selection of garden games. Just a quick note about our facilities for babies, - we have one compact cot and high chair available for use , and a ‘pull out’ toddler bed which there is space for in two of the bedrooms if required. We do not charge extra for these but please let us know in advance if you would be wanting to make use of them. - we dont provide linens for the cot so please bring your own. Up to 3 well behaved dogs are also welcome - we do ask though that you bring your own throws for furniture and towels to rub them down if they get damp! . If your furry friends come back from a walk a little on the damp side – you can bring them straight into the house by the kitchen door which leads directly into the utility and kitchen areas – where the flooring is easy to mop down and they can be made comfortable until they dry off (there is also a hose pipe outside for a paw rinse) Guest access The booking covers private use of the entire house and garden If you cant see the dates you want to book as they are more than 12 months away - please message. Other things to note we do not charge for dogs , but we need to know they are coming! Please bring your own throws for any furniture they may want t sit on. We do not normally allow bookings for unaccompanied young persons (or groups of young persons) of 18 years or below , and do not permit hirers to host additional undeclared guests or sublet the property. Please also note - we do not currently have charging facilities for electric vehicles- nor do we allow charging on your own extension cables through the windows as these have not been PAT tested by our electrician. There is an EV charging point in the car park by the village school / recycling area . Thank you Charcoal for the BBq and fuel for the multifuel stove (logs or smokeless briquettes) are available at Co-op in the village.
