Description
2.5 miles from Aberfoyle, nestled in the heart of the Queen Elizabeth Forest this 500 year old tower house with connections to Rob Roy has been fully renovated. Guests can enjoy the beautiful estate, sit with a good book by the fire or alternatively explore all there is to offer in the local area of Loch Lomond and Stirlingshire. The space The oldest part of Duchray castle dates from the 16th Century, when it is believed to have been built as a hunting lodge for the Kings of Scotland. Early title deeds imposed upon the Laird of Duchray the duty to provide 70-armed men at need. Set in 80 acres of parkland the location is secluded, rural and scenic but is within 30 miles of Stirling and Glasgow making it highly accessible. The Trossachs, a designated National Scenic Area, are renowned for their beautiful lochs, forests, hills and glens. Golden eagles, peregrine falcons and red deer coexist with roe deer, wildcats, foxes, badgers and red squirrels. Other things to note Please note that, as you see in the photo, there is a separate building, known as The West Wing which might be occupied during your stay by other guests or the owners. The Property is independent from the Castle but does share the courtyard, parking and grounds - there is plenty of space and no windows look directly onto the Castle and visa versa. It is also possible to take both properties as well as the Lodge which is about 300 meters down the drive. Registration Details ST00049P
