Description

Casa Mula was literally home for one of the local Mules and has been lovingly renovated using local materials making it a beautiful rustic three story holiday home with all mod cons ! Situated in a corner of the village, with parking either at the house or close by , the terrace offers fantastic views of Mount Maroma , at 2,065 metres , the highest mountain in the the Axarquia , you can climb the summit from Sedella or the neighboring village of Canillas de Aceituno . Sedella is a traditional white village ( Pueblo Blanco ) located below the Tejeda and Almijara mountain range at nearly 700 m above sea level . There is a supermarket selling all the basics and a small street market on a Monday . Restaurant El Chiringuito offers breakfast , lunch & dinner . Victor the chef uses fresh ingredients in all his dishes which include a selection of tapas , Spanish jam & cheese, fresh meat and wild fish . In the church square you can enjoy tapas with a glass of the local wine and watch village life go by ! Las Banderas ( The flags ) restaurant is a 5 min drive from the village , Manolo offers a selection of meats and fish (to order) cooked on his wood BBQ . There are other restaurant options in the neighboring villages of Salares & Canillas de Aceituno. There is a spectacular walk nearby called El Saltillo which was recently renovated adding metal walkways and a 50 metre long suspension bridge making it one of the three longest in Spain , connecting Sedella and the neighboring village of Canillas de Aceituno as part of the Gran Senda (great path) of Malaga , it has been nicknamed "The Caminito del Rey of the Axarquia". Situated in a quiet corner of the village, the roof terrace of Casa Mula offers fantastic views over the village and up to Mount Maroma . A great place to take in the village atmosphere with a glass of wine or just sunbathe and relax! There is a comfortable lounge with a smart TV as well as a cosy bedroom with an en-suite. The rustic style kitchen is well equipped for every day cooking . Casa Mula is a unique holiday home and gives the feeling of real Spain as you will see all the locals going about their daily chores whether it be harvesting the grapes to make the local wine or bringing back fresh fruit & vegetables from their allotments . the bread van comes past daily as well as other vans selling anything from fresh fish to water melons ! The house itself is full of original features like old beams and terracotta flooring and is well furnished . There is a smart TV (no satellite ) blue tooth speaker as well as plenty of books and info on the local area. We can also help organise outdoor activities like horse riding , kayaking , potholing , 4X4 trips into the national park etc . There are a number of City day trips you can take from Sedella including Malaga ,Cordoba and Granada or you can just spend your days exploring the many white villages in this beautiful area ! Casa Mula is on it's own with no shared amenities . The village has a municipal swimming pool which is open during the months of July & August . There is also a fully fitted gym in the village where guests can go for around 7 euros per session . There is a visitor centre where you can learn about the natural park . We will meet you on arrival and take you to Casa Mula . If you have a late arrival we can leave the key and send you the directions to the house. We live just a few doors away so are available to answer any questions . We also offer a laundry service if needed. We love living and working in Sedella as it is such a friendly and traditional Spanish village surrounded by beautiful countryside . You can walk for 10 minutes and be in the natural park where you wont see anybody apart from maybe a goat herd or a mule !! Its still such an unspoilt area . There are a few ways to climb mount Maroma either from Sedella or the neighbouring villages . There are three wine "bodegas " in the area , in Competa , Sayalonga and here in Sedella where you can visit to have tapas and a wine tasting . Sedella has a bus service that goes twice daily to the coast and back, there are also local taxi services available . We can arrange airport transfers if needed . There is plenty of parking close to casa Mula . We leave a welcome bottle of wine of your choice . In winter months we provide a basket of logs , if more are needed we can supply them for a small charge .
