Nestled in a pretty, friendly village 3 miles from Fowey is our well equipped and homely Cornish miners cottage dating from 1860, under a mile from the beach and just a 10 minute drive to The Eden Project. Pebble Cottage is located on a quiet no-through lane (The Saints Way) which leads to open countryside one way and towards the beach and coastal path the other. There is central heating, a private parking space and fully enclosed, flat, sunny courtyard garden (no steps!) with seating and BBQ. The space Pebble Cottage is just under a mile from the wonderful, dog friendly and safe Par Sands Beach, which, with its gently sloping sands is perfect for families and watersports. From the beach you can pick up the spectacular South West Coast Path with its dramatic cliff top views, wildlife and hidden coves. In one direction you can walk to quaint Charlestown Harbour (as featured in ‘Poldark’), and in the other direction to Polkerris with its watersports, pub, beach and restaurant. This is a very popular family beach and a fantastic place from which to sit and watch the evening sunsets. If you want a longer walk you can carry on past Polkerris to Fowey and catch the bus back(bus stops at the end of our lane), but if you don’t fancy that Fowey is only a 5 minute drive away. Tywardreath means ‘House on the Strand’. It lies in the heart of Daphne du Maurier country and is the title of one of her books. It has a great pub with a popular dog and visitor friendly family restaurant, a village store, an award winning Butcher and a beautiful ancient church. Tywardreath is known as one of the friendliest villages in Cornwall and with it's great location it is hard to beat for a true Cornish holiday. Situated right in the heart of the village with all its amenities, Pebble Cottage is well placed for visiting all the popular tourist attractions on both the north and south coasts, with The Eden Project being only a 10 minute drive away and The Lost Gardens of Heligan 25 minutes away. The beautiful town of Fowey is just 3 miles away and has a great selection of shops, pubs and restaurants. From here you can also hire boats and kayaks or take the ferry across the Estuary to Bodinnick and Polruan or take a boat trip across to Mevagissey. You may even be lucky enough to spot a dolphin on the way! The little village of Golant is just 2 miles away and another lovely place to explore the river followed by a drink in the pub afterwards. The small town of Par is a 10 minute walk from Pebble Cottage and has a further range of shops and post office plus a railway station with a direct link to London Paddington, Newquay, Truro (connect here for St Ives) and the steam train at Bodmin. If you are travelling to Cornwall by train, we are more than happy to collect you from the station. You really are spoilt for choice when it comes to nice walks and things to do in this area. Accommodation Pebble Cottage offers you a clean, fresh place to stay. Being built in the 1800’s as a miner's cottage there are many interesting features and beams which add to its character, whilst modern appliances have been fitted for your comfort and convenience. It is centrally heated throughout making it cosy and warm for a perfect winter stay. There are two large, well furnished bedrooms upstairs both with king size beds, plus there is a further single bed in the second bedroom with room for a cot too. The large shower room is also upstairs and we provide all towels and bedding (please bring your own beach towels). Downstairs a good sized hallway leads into a cosy lounge with electric woodburner and into a generously sized and well equipped kitchen/diner. A utility room housing the washing machine and a selection of childrens' toys leads out into the fully enclosed, private, sunny courtyard garden. We have a folder of local information to help you make the best of your time in Cornwall. If you are travelling with children we have a good range of baby and toddler equipment for use to save you cramming it all into the car, just let us know what you need when you book. There are no end of beautiful walks in this area and the main Cornish visitor towns and attractions are all close to hand too. Cornwall is a very dog friendly place, and for this reason we do welcome well-behaved dogs and owners . We have a selection of doggie items that you can borrow, please just let us know that you are bringing your four legged friend with you when you book. In order to keep the cottage clean for all our guests, dogs are not allowed on the furniture ' Four paws on the floor' please and we prefer them not to go upstairs. We do also ask that dogs are not left alone in our cottage but we will give this consideration if you advise us in advance and it is for a short time only. We are sure you will have a wonderful stay at Pebble Cottage, but if you would like to know anything else prior to booking, please ask. We live in the village ourselves so can be on hand to help you with anything during your stay, otherwise we will respect your privacy and leave you to get on with enjoying yourselves! PLEASE NOTE that because of the size of the cottage we are not able to accept more than 4 adults at a time, sorry. Due to the age and character of the cottage there are a few low beams/doorways and a sloping ceiling with restricted head height on one side in the second bedroom, please see photos.
