The house is ideally situated for a wonderful family holiday or getaway. It is only an hour and a half drive from Christchurch and a perfect stop over on your way to the mountains and lakes. The space The house is on a single level with a wonderfully large, open kitchen/dining/living area big enough to accommodate a big group in comfort. There is a cot in the main bedroom suitable for infants. The 4th bed in the main bedroom is a pull out trundler. One of the bottom bunks is a double so 5 children can easily fit in the third bedroom. There are 2 large couches in the living area that can be used as beds. There is only one shower but it is gas powered so plenty of hot water for everyone. There is a second toilet off the laundry. There are 3 heat pumps throughout the house that heats up the place very quickly. The Wifi is called Geraldine_Retreat and the password is on a fridge magnet. The back yard is enclosed and secure once the gate is closed and bolted. Special conditions: - Smoking allowed outside only - Bookings of more than 7 nights receive 10% discount. - Bookings of more than a month receive 25% discount. - You are expected to bring your own linen (towels/sheets/pillow cases) but you can hire linen upon request for an additional charge ($10 per person per stay) - Please clean the house & do the dishes before you leave - If you use the BBQ, please clean it after use Guest access Geraldine offers a wide range of cafes, wine bars and restaurants and even has it's own cinema and upgraded heated outdoor swimming pool. There is a children's playground and skate park only 2 minutes away and there is also a golf course, tennis courts and some beautiful bush walks. From the main street it is a mere five-minute stroll into Talbot Forest - a native forest with its breathtaking views over plains and mountains. Geraldine is an ideal spot to base yourself for day trips to Peel Forest, Te Moana gorge, Mt. Cook or fishing on the local rivers. The Rangitata River (home of world class white-water rafting and salmon fishing) is not far away. Here you can see some of the most spectacular alpine and high country scenery in New Zealand. It’s not difficult to see why Lord of the Rings producer Peter Jackson chose this superb valley as an important location in his films.
