The expressive house was designed by Norbert Möhring, one of the most imaginative architects in the region. For the vacation home in Wieck am Darß, he chose the regionally typical form of the Drempelhaus, a two-story building with a low roof pitch. Wood, sheet metal, stone and concrete, all wind and weatherproof building materials, characterize the small house with the large interior. The black paint of the larch wood facade contrasts with the white interiors. The combination of cool concrete, brushed wooden floorboards and straightforward furniture creates a very neutral framework in which the occupant is the focus. The atmosphere is warmed by the light that falls through large windows from all sides into the holiday home and thus constantly changes the color mood. Light on the ground floor brings the many shades of gray to life – on the upper floor, skylights let the brightness flow into the house. The concrete staircase with its filigree white railing is sculptural. And a reminiscence of the enchanted Darsser forest behind the sea is the gnarled tree trunk in the house, which wisely relaxes its rectangular surroundings.
