Description

La Montesina House is the ideal place to set up the base for your trip to Andalusia. Less than 2 hours from Malaga, Ronda, Granada or Seville and with Madrid 1h:40 away by high-speed train. The house is located in a hidden and beautiful alley in the heart of the historic center declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. A few meters from Plaza de la Corredera and Plaza del Potro and two steps from the Jewish Quarter, the Cathedral Mosque and the Roman Bridge. The space La Montesina House is a complex consisting of the private residence of its owners, located on the ground floor of the building, and three complete apartments on the first floor that are distributed around a beautiful gallery designed around a typical Cordovan manor house courtyard with its well and fountain harmoniously integrated into the architectural complex. The three accommodations are carefully restored and decorated to keep intact the atmosphere and elegance of a typical 19th century Cordovan manor house. The original hydraulic tile floors with their magnificent designs and the refined carpentry of doors and windows stand out. All accommodations consist of a living room with dining area and kitchen, a bedroom and a full bathroom. They are also fully equipped with air conditioning (hot or cold), TV, Wi-Fi, and Ethernet data connection. The House Its origins date back to the 15th century. The first existing annotation dates back to 1517, as the property of the Montesinos family. It remained a private residence for several generations until the mid-seventeenth century when it became part of the Santa Inés convent. In 1839 it returned to private hands and in 1892 it underwent a substantial renovation that gave it its particular 19th century façade design. Since then it has remained a private residence. The house is distributed around three courtyards and is accessed from two streets. The main courtyard, with a fountain and well, is located on a cellar with an original dome of what could have been a bathhouse of Arab or Jewish origin more than ten centuries old. Its arches are reminiscent of the cloister of the convent era. The lemon tree courtyard, a beautiful and simple white space, evokes the narrow courtyards of Caliphate Cordoba and is overlooked by two of the accommodations. Finally, there is the patio de la calleja, the beautiful entrance exclusively for guests, in which the house's typical laundry room and a beautiful cypress tree stand out, giving the complex a marked Andalusian accent. Guest access Common areas include the cozy reading room in the gallery, the magnificent central courtyard, the cave under the courtyard where you can see a 10th century well, and the magnificent views from the rooftop, where guests can enjoy absolute tranquility.
