The villa occupies a secluded yet elevated position, 3 minutes away from the town centre, with stunning views over the old roofs of Taormina, its ancient Graeco-Roman theatre, and the surrounding Ionian sea. Ideal for 6 adults Stunning view of the ancient theater and the Meditarranean sea, in a lush garden of 4000m2 , quiet, close to the old town with its many bars , restaurants and terraces. Villa Gemmellaro was built in 1892 by the volcanologist Gaetano Giorgio Gemmellaro and belongs to the same family since then. This old house is a few minutes walk from the historic center in an enclosed garden of 4000m2. From the main road you get there by climbing up stairs that run along a winding path lined with lemon, orange, jasmine and giacaranda trees On the first floor, the rooms are spacious with high vaulted ceilings, furnished in an elegant and comfortable style: - Front: 1 double bedroom, living room, a dining room, a panoramic terrace overlooking the old roofs of Taormina, the sea and the Greek Theatre. - Rear: 1 double bedroom with ensuite shower room, a single or double room, another bathroom, a kitchen, a terrace with a dining area, a barbecue and an outdoor shower. On the ground floor: 1 large terrace around an ancient well with a view of the old roofs of Taormina. The house is not suitable for people with reduced mobility or the elderly. Exchanges prior to reservation are advisable. Shopping and night life: Taormina offers a large selection of shops and boutiques (including many antiques), restaurants, bars, pubs, cafes and night clubs. Cultural events: from June to September there are many cultural events organised by Taormina Arte in the Greco-Roman theatre, the Conference Center and the Botanical Garden: Taormina film festival (June), theatre, opera, classic and pop concerts ( July and August). The sea and its beaches are accessible by car (20mn), by funicular (very handy), local bus (the bus stop is a couple metres away from the house) or by a lovely scenic footpath (30mn walk). Sports activities: Scubadiving and snorkeling at Isolabella, Tennis in the town centre (10mn on foot), Quarus Gym Club, Windsurfing at Mazzaro, water bikes and water skiing at Mazzaro and IsolaBella, Paragliding on Mount Etna or Taormina/Spisone, Golf ont Mount Etna, bodyrafting at the Alcantara gorges. Sightseeing & excursions: 1h from Syracuse, 45mn from Mount Etna, 40mn from the cascades and gorges of Gole dell'Alcantara, 40mn from Catania, 1h30 from the Unesco mosaics of the Roman Villa, 35mn from the Golf course, 1h from the Eolian Islands. Ideal starting point for numerous excursions (Etna, Catania, Syracuse and the baroque cities, the Roman mosaics of Piazza Armerina, the Aeolian Islands). Ideal for 6 adults The entrance shares the first flight of stairs with the neighbors, then it is completely private. The gardener will come 2 times a week to take care and maintain the garden and the countryside of the property
