Historic Georgian Stone Built Cottage & New Retreat set on a picturesque lake. A restored first settler's cottage of convict-cut stone on land granted 200 years ago. Cool stone rooms, decorated with taste, the entire cottage is yours for 1 to 4 adults or older children with up to 2 double bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, sitting room with stone fireplace, galley kitchen, outdoor BBQ & spacious casual dining area, with great views from paved deck & front balcony. Escape to the Forgotten Valley. The space Late Autumn through Winter to early Spring means warming up by the log fire. Wood supplied. Accommodates 2 couples or 1 couple and 2 older children across 2 bedroom spaces. The property is not suited to toddlers and young children. Relaxing environment, clean air and wonderful natural flora and fauna. True retreat qualities to help guests relax and forget their stresses. Rejuvenating environment with more history to be experienced with the Great North Road, Settlers Arms Inn and the stories told on the headstones in our local graveyards. The lake offers a keen fisherman an opportunity to clean out some big carp. The birdwatcher has their hands full from first light as they wake to the many and varied sounds of the 100 or so species in our area. Pelicans, ducks, cormorants, darts, herons, white ibis and swamp hens are your companions as you paddle out on your kayak onto the lake waters. Kangaroos are bountiful on the property. Mostly in the early morning. First Farm was one of the first properties granted along the Hawkesbury and signed off by Governor Macquarie in the land grant of 1820. John Bayley having reached the age of 21 was entitled to a land grant in the colony and searched out the most suitable property well served with water and rich soils to grow corn and potatoes for the hungry and growing colony. This is a chance to share all that history that is embodied in this heritage listed cottage with our city friends. We are excited to offer the cottage as a mid-week retreat and a romantic weekend escape for couples and families. Guest access You have the entire cottage, historic sitting room, a furnished front verandah with dining table, paved deck and BBQ area all overlooking a gorgeous lake full or wildlife. Single car garage and easy parking for another car or two. Access is about 1.5 hours from Sydney via the Webb Creek Ferry at Wisemans Ferry. We are now open to book in larger groups of 4 or more, we provide the air-conditioned luxury retreat facilities: - large gourmet kitchen and dining room with historic fireplace - air conditioned, ceiling fans and all appliances in a stainless steel, commercial style chefs' kitchen - air-conditioned lounge and entertainment room with 65 inch OLED TV and streaming channels, comfortable leather sofas, Swedish style fireplace, 5-meter ceilings - a hotel suite style king bedroom and ensuite available for larger bookings of 5 or more adults. Other things to note Wifi calling is supported by the BigPond internet service at the cottage. No direct mobile service at our location only wifi calling. The local village now has Telstra Mobile 4G support. Public phone at village. Telstra mobile service is available sporadically en-route from Wisemans Ferry. A smart TV allows you to connect your subscription streaming services. Accommodation for Children is in the attic bedroom which is up set of stairs so be aware that they will need to go up and so suits children that are safe on stairs.
