From Palazzo Rosso you are well placed to visit the whole of the Veneto region, we are an hour's drive from Venice, 40 minutes from Verona, 20 from Vicenza and Padua, and hour away from Lake Garda and the Dolomites. The space Tigli apartment is a two bedroom, one bathroom second floor apartment with open plan living, dining and kitchen area and a four metre wide high two metre glass window which looks out over a 300 square metre barn recreation area. The apartment also has a 4.5 metre high original beamed ceiling and 400 year old exposed solid stone walls. The apartment is very well furnished with locally made solid wood furniture and kitchen. The kitchen has a solid granite work surface. The bedrooms have a view of the 5000 square metre Villa Palazzo Rosso courtyard garden. The apartment is both heated and air conditioned. Guest access Our guests have access to all parts of the hospitality area, there are two separate gardens, one has a pool area while the other has a sauna, jacuzzi and gym area. There is a large, beautiful covered portico where most of our guests spend their day, here there is also a ping pong table. There is a big common room that is free to use for anybody and has a pool table, table football, TV/games area, a separate kitchen and two bathrooms for everybody to use. There are some simple bikes that are also free to use for our guests (if you like cycling long distances we advise bringing your own biking gear as the bikes are simple city bikes). During you stay you will also access to some products of ours such as organic pasta made with ancient grains and ancient spelt, wine made from our organic grapes, honey made on the farm and organic barley coffee also grown on the farm. Other things to note A disclaimer, the palace is also the base of our large organic farm, we have many animals such as donkeys, ponies, goats, chickens, ducks, cows and more. We are careful to not use pesticides or other bad substances that hurt insects and other living beings, therefore please do not be surprised if there are many insects, flies, mosquitoes and occasionally some animal noises. If you hate insects our farm may not be the best place to spend your holidays. Places to visit: We are an hour's drive from Venice, 40 minutes from Verona, 20 from Vicenza and Padua, and an hour away from Lake Garda and the Dolomites. Bologna is a 1h40m drive from us. While Ferrara and Mantua are both 1h away and are two beautiful small cities with tons of history that are still relatively unknown! Other interesting and historic places that are a short drive or train ride away from our palace are Bassano del Grappa, Abano Terme, Treviso, Valdobbiadene, Marostica, Montagnana, Asiago, Feltre, Romeo and Juliet's castle, Arquá Petrarca, Cortina, Possagno, Chioggia, Valeggio, Trento and many more. Ask us for advice on what to do and where to go! Villas: Our area, specifically the province of Vicenza is the capital of villas built by Palladio, the most influential architect when it comes to Italian villas. These villas are scattered around the province and are occasionally open on some days during the week. The most famous and beautiful villas include La Rotonda, Villa dei Vescovi, Villa Barbaro Volpi, Villa Contarini and Villa Valmarana ai Nani. Additionally, there is the park of Valsanzibio which is a large beautiful garden of a Villa, Parco Sigurtá is another even larger park. Public transport: To reach the above-mentioned locations by train you should drive to a local station about 12 minutes away from the palace, the station is Grisignano del Zocco and has free parking. For other destinations (such as Milan, or the foot of the Dolomites) it is best to leave from Vicenza station, to go south by train (Bologna, Florence, Ferrara, Rome, Naples etc) you should take a train from Padua station, in both Vicenza and Padua the parking is not free. There is also a bus stop in front of the palace which reaches Vicenza, unfortunately, the last bus (going and coming back) is at 8 PM. Where to eat: There are many restaurants in our area that serve a variety of pizza, pasta, meat and fish-based dishes, as well as a few vegan and vegetarian dishes. Our area happens to be extremely saturated with great restaurants and pizzerias! We do not provide any kind of restaurant or breakfast service, each apartment has its own kitchen and table, we only advise you on what restaurant you should eat at! Supermarkets: There are many supermarkets in the area, although none are a short walk from the palace. There is an A&O in Longare (3min drive), a Famila in Nanto (3min drive), a discount called Prix in Nanto, and finally a large, high-quality supermarket in Barbarano called Alíper (7min drive). Wine: Our area is also a big wine producer, including Prosecco, while the Valdobbiadene (40min drive) area is the heart of the Prosecco region. At the palace you will find a comprehensive (but not exhaustive) list of wineries you can visit close to us with a short comment describing the wineries and what the local customs are for tastings.
