Please contact us for availibility The space This large Gascon farm house, dating in parts from the 1700s, is built on a hillside over three levels. It opens to reveal a spacious interior, beautifully equipped and styled. The ground floor is tiled throughout with hand-crafted terracotta tiles, beneath which lies an underfloor heating system which keeps the house warm in winter. The salon – opening out on to a west-facing veranda – features an original limestone fireplace, open on both sides. The house has Wi-Fi throughout. A Sonos digital sound system powers integrated Bose speakers in three zones: entertainment area, games room and master bedroom. Connect your phones/tablets directly to the system! In the converted barn next to the house are the gates: modern duplexes formed out of part the Lavayssière barn building. the south facing side of the same converted barn is where the indoor pool and jacuzzi are situated. The ground floor of each gîte consists of an open-plan kitchen/diner/living area. Upstairs are two double bedrooms and a bathroom with both bath and shower. Between the gîtes is an “independent bedroom” with a bunk bed and ensuite shower room. This ground-floor bedroom can form a third bedroom for either of the gîtes, or can be shared between the two, depending on guests’ preferences.The gîte living areas – and the independent bedroom – open out onto a stone terrace which links with the house and the gardens around. The terrace looks directly across the valley at Bardigues and in the evenings the gîtes fill with light from the setting sun. On the upper floor the gîtes link directly to the indoor pool and jacuzzi area. The bakehouse, drenched in wisteria, is a small rustic outbuilding facing the outdoor pool. Once home to a stone oven used to bake bread for the Lavayssière household, it now services the pool area. Daytime-only access to the bakehouse is included in the overall rental cost of Lavayssière. It is not available for overnight accommodation. The 4m x 11m indoor pool, situated in the barn, is heated for year-round use. The folding floor-to-ceiling windows open to the fresh air in the summer months. In winter the windows afford views of secluded gardens while guests enjoy a swim. Relax and unwind in the full-featured 9-seat jacuzzi, heated to 38°C. Changing, bathroom and shower facilities are available directly from the pool. The indoor pool area features integrated Bose speakers run from a state-of-the art Sonos digital music system. Via wifi, guests can play their own music across the system. The all-weather tennis court is oriented North-South and enjoys views across the valley to Bardigues. We have some rackets but we do suggest you bring your own tennis rackets. The entire 30 acres of Lavayssière is available for your exclusive use during your stay. Walk across the meadows, explore the woods down to the stream at the bottom of the valley. With luck you’ll catch a glimpse of deer drinking at the pond or feeding on fallen pears. Surrounded by gardens and orchards the house and gites occupy a commanding position over the valley: enjoy stunning views of the Gascon countryside; watch the sun set over the picturesque village of Bardigues. Swim in the outdoor 5m x 10m pool, or simply relax on sun loungers. For fitness and fun in equal measure take advantage of our all-weather tennis court. For children we have a 4.3m trampoline currently situated between the dining terrace and the sundeck next to the indoor pool. The 5m x 10m outdoor pool nestles in a sheltered south-facing terrace next to the wisteria-decked “bakehouse”. Soak up the sun on the loungers on the terrace and deck around the pool, or enjoy the shade and the views under the ancient oak trees nearby. The outdoor pool is open from mid-May until mid-September each year. Please contact us for availability. Guest access Lavayssiere, the house, the converted bar, the gardens, the terraces, the tennis court, the indoor pool and the outdoor pool are all private and available for your exclusive use. The cellar and linen cupboards are locked for the cleaners use only. Other things to note The maximum number of guests is 20 in 10 bedrooms. We also have cots and can consider extra beds for an additional fee. I n high season rental weeks start and end on a Saturday. In low season we consider rentals of 3 nights or 5 nights depending on the week.
