Description

40% discount over Australia Day long weekend. Stay & support Wye❤️ Unique 1950's beach shack overlooking the Ocean. You’ll love the location & large deck overlooking that spectacular ocean view. Unlike other properties in Wye, this house is a short walk to everything. If staying higher up the hill, it’s incredibly steep and impossible to walk to the beach, the store and the pub. A stay time warped in the 50/60s, and for the beautiful gum trees that provide you with privacy and a little oasis. The space An original old school beach house in a prime location on the gentlest part of the hill at Wye River and an easy stroll to the beach, pub and Wye General Store. I have spent many years bringing this shack back to life and collecting original 1950's/60's furniture and appliances. I enjoy entertaining so it’s well equipped with all you need for cooking up a storm. Plenty of glasses, platters etc. In the main house bedroom you can lie in bed and watch the fire or turn the 55 inch Sony Smart Oled TV around and watch both. TV is loaded with multiple streaming apps including Foxtel and Netflix. The design of the property is typical of 1950's beach shacks with the top floor of the main house being open plan to capture the ocean views and the bathroom with shower only, but the best shower you will ever have with the original huge shower rose. A powder room in the main upstairs house was completed in Covid and further renovations undergone during lockdown include the installation of a picture window across from the dining room table to capture the rockery garden and Wye valley view, complete repaint of main top floor, additional original 1950s cupboards installed in the kitchen and timber floors in the main house hard wax polished. Another unique aspect of the house is its privacy offered by the largest gum trees still existing on a residential property in Wye. It’s a little oasis that has the feel of being surrounded in nature with nothing in front but the ocean. Each of the bedrooms has a split system airconditioning/heating unit and the Port-hole bungalow and the main house bedroom each have a TV. Broadband WIFI throughout. TV in main house has Foxtel, Netflix and other apps loaded. They did things a little differently in the 1950's placing the bathroom downstairs and to access it from the main house is short walk down a flight of stairs undercover where a second separate toilet and the bathroom with shower are located. Bring your thongs or slippers and dressing gown. That’s how they designed these shacks back in the day. Grab a retro banana lounge, a bottle of wine and a good book and chill out on the deck enjoying the view across the ocean or cook up a BBQ feast. Afterall, the view and the retro vibe of the house is what it’s all about. A step back in time to the glorious days of 1950's Aussie beach culture and only minutes walk to the beach, pub and General store. Guest access Prices listed are for 2 guests with each additional guest at $45 per person per night. All the bedrooms are located on separate parts of the property which makes Kath’s View an ideal stay for large groups as each has their own privacy. If you book for 2 guests you have use of the main house open plan double bedroom and all other bedrooms are locked. If you book for 4 guests you have the main house plus the Porthole bedroom with its own TV. If you book for 6 guests you have the main house, Porthole bedroom plus the downstairs Peacock bedroom. The house can possibly sleep a 7th guest by arrangement. Any questions on the sleeping configurations or locations of the bedrooms please ask. The pictures will show you the Porthole bungalow which is to the left of the garden path as you enter the main house. Its large and completely separate. Please note a security camera is positioned on this garden path for your and my peace of mind. Fresh doona covers will be provided on each of the beds when booked. Bath mats, hand towels and tea towels also provided, however guests are required to bring a fitted, flat sheet and two pillow slips for whichever bedroom has been booked. You will be advised when access details are sent a few days prior to your arrival. Towels and beach towels are not provided and guests are required to bring their own. Christmas minimum 5 night stay. January minimum 7 nights stay Long weekends 3 nights (strictly Friday, Saturday & Sunday) Easter 4 nights Other things to note Due to the old style design of the house and the furnishings, namely the glass dining room table and multiple stairs, my place is not suitable for children under 5 years or pets and as such I don't accept bookings with little ones or fur friends. I am strict on this policy as its for your and my peace of mind. With original 1950's furnishings which are unique and irreplaceable, all guests booking are required to lodge a security bond which provided all is in order is promptly refunded following cleaning.
