Description

On Beauty Point's waterfront, overlooking kanamaluka / River Tamar, Beachside is a unique and spacious Arts and Crafts style home with enviable views from almost every window. Built in 1950, she is - as guests have described: a "perfectly imperfect" - old dame, lovingly maintained as a comfortable home. The decor & furnishings are in keeping with that era, while gentle renovations provide modern conveniences in the kitchen & bathrooms. And the region's best fish & chippy is almost next door! The space After a day sight-seeing in Northern Tasmania or wine-touring the Tamar Valley, there is little better than relaxing on Beachside’s front porch and enjoying the waterfront view. The spacious galley kitchen is designed with the foodie in mind. There are a range of cooking appliances in the cupboards and a lot of platters and serving utensils in the deep drawers for those who would like to entertain family and friends. Three living areas provide generous personal space for guests and 180 degree views of the deep water harbour of the Tamar River just across the road. The open-plan lounge has a large comfortable couch, big screen Smart TV, DVD player, wood heater, and reverse-cycle air-conditioner. The sunroom has informal dining overlooking the river and mid-century armchairs for relaxing in with a glass of wine or a good book. The formal dining boasts a rustic 8-10 seat teak dining table and high-backed chairs, and two comfortable armchairs for sitting by the big open fireplace. The 3 upstairs bedrooms are expansive, all with water views. Standard configuration is 3 beds (1xDB, 2x QB) for up to 6 people. At Beachside, everything you need for a self-contained stay is provided: linen and towels; all kitchen utensils and appliances; wi-fi internet (unlimited and fast enough for video-conferencing with ease); general pantry items, and liquid soaps in the showers and by basins. All you need to bring is clothes and food - for those nights where you don't get fish and chips or wander to the pub for a delicious counter meal on the water… DOG-FRIENDLY Beachside is dog-friendly with 6ft barrier fencing enclosing the large, grassy backyard and a sizable covered area just at the back door. A maximum of two canine family members are allowed at the property. While it is preferred that dogs stay outside, well-behaved, low-shedding canine family members are permitted inside downstairs only if necessary, but not on furniture, and only where all of the floors are wood or tiles. As I do not charge for pets, guests must clean up after their dogs inside and outside, as applicable, or additional cleaning fees will be applied. Guest access Guests have full access to all areas of the house except the attic and garage. There is plenty of off-street and on-street parking. While I strive to provide an inclusive and welcoming space for guests, as a conscientious host, I need to share that Beachside's internal stairs to the bedrooms and family bathroom are not suitable for everyone. The internal stairs are quite steep and have proven challenging for elderly guests. Please bare this in mind if travelling with older relatives or friends. The railings on the internal stairs and upstairs landing are also quite wide apart, so could be a falls safety risk for small children. Please feel very welcome to send me a booking request if your children are over 5 years old. RATES Airbnb Smart Pricing is turned on so prices fluctuate depending on demand. The base rate of $160 per night is for two people sharing one bed. Additional rates apply for extra people, or use of more than 1 bed, at $30 each per night. Beachside is cleaned and all laundry done by professionals between guests. Post-COVID protocols and inflation have increased cleaning and laundry costs. Guest contribution to these costs is $75 per stay. Refundable damage deposit, held by Airbnb, is $250 per stay. Other things to note As I don't live on the island full time, I can't be there to arrange breakfast for you I'm afraid, so the rate is for self-contained accommodation only - including linen, towels etc. There is tea, coffee, sugar in the canisters on the bench, long life milk in the fridge and basic goods in the pantry, including salt and pepper, oil, and various dry goods.
