Description
Sunny village house in medieval fort with terrace and beautiful views of vineyards and the Pyrenees. This 2 bed stone house is in the winemaking village of Pouzols Minervois in Occitanie. It has been tastefully renovated to a high standard with all mod-cons while retaining original character. With 2 bedrooms, both with air con and ensuite, this house comfortably sleeps 4. Pouzols Minervois is 5 minutes from the Canal du Midi and 40 mins drive to Carcassonne and beaches. Owners are winemakers. The space Pouzols Minervois is a typical winemaking village in the heart of the Languedoc (or Occitanie as it is now known). The house is at the top of the village, in the oldest part which dates back to at least the 15th century. The views from the house are fantastic. On a clear day you can see the Pyrenees and the 'everyday' view is of rolling vineyards. The house was completely renovated in 2015/16 and we have tried to keep the original character whilst creating a comfortable home from home for our guests. The kitchen is modern and well equipped with worktops set against the original, curved stone wall. Kitchen staples provided such as coffee, tea, salt, herbs, sugar, flour, also dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, laundry detergent, tea towels and some loo rolls. There are two bedrooms, both ensuite. The top bedroom has beautiful views and a lovely big shower room. The first floor bedroom can either be made up as two single beds or as a double bed (with a mattress topper). Let us know when you book which you require. The kitchen and adjoining entrance hall are big enough to use as a living room/dining room but the main living room is on the first floor. There are two sofas, a small library and a TV with DVD player and a small selection of DVDs. The main French TV channels are available plus there is an android box which enables internet access to a wide choice of European TV channels. Guest access This is a private house so the house and terrace are yours alone throughout your stay. Access is via a courtyard which is shared with 3 other houses. Other things to note The house is old so nothing is quite straight. The walls are curved, windows are made to measure, and the stairs are steep (there is a bannister) and the steps are not even. Head height on the stairs up to the top bedroom is restricted so you will need to duck your head on these top stairs! This is all part of the character of the house but unfortunately it means it is not suitable for persons of reduced mobility. Also not suitable for very young children (ie toddlers) due to steep stairs.
