The space Our Mountain Hiker is a beautiful and comfortable holiday apartment for 2/3 people newly refurbished with organic materials. Private terrace with a gazebo in the garden. This spacious gite (+80 sqm) is located on the first floor, facing south with a stunning panorama of the mountains and the famous medieval castle of Haut Koenigsbourg. Downstairs, in the garden, a gazebo with a small terrace awaits the guests of the gîte. Table and garden chairs make it a specially pleasant place to have tea or dinner outside during the beautiful days, from Spring to Fall. Decoration is about forests and mountains, dedicated to the first owner and builder of the house who was, until the 1930s, the forester of the Forest of La Vancelle. Bedroom with king size double bed (180 x 200 cm). The two living rooms (living room and dining room) are en suite and facing south. An extra traditional Alsatian bed is providing sitting space but also a comfortable extra bed for 1 grown-up child or adult. An independent bathroom and kitchen complete this cozy apartment where you will relax after your hiking or your discoveries in the vineyards, along the Alsace wine route (only minutes away). Our house is a beautiful building full of character built in 1930 and inspired by Art Deco style. In the midst of the Roaring Twenties, its style, modernity and quality of construction was considered as remarkable in the small mountain village of La Vancelle. Today, after a beautiful restoration and development of two elegant apartments (one of them is our private apartment), it will be a romantic, comfortable and relaxing accommodation for your holiday in Alsace, as well as your base camp to discover the whole region. La Vancelle is a small Alsatian mountain village, nestled on the southern slope of a mountain arch that rises to about 855 meters. Only a wise eye can see the village from the valley. Hidden in a beautiful forest, it is a haven of peace and nature. And yet it is easily accessible and ideally located, away from the crowds but just minutes from the wine route, the wine villages and the major tourist attractions as The Eagle sanctuary (volerie des Aigles), the Monkey Mountain (montagne des Singes) and the castle Haut Koenigsbourg. Easy access in any season. Free public parking in front of the house. It is necessary to have your own vehicle. A strategic location right in the middle of Alsace (exactly on the limit between the 2 Alsatian counties (Bas-Rhin and Haut-Rhin) less than 10 minutes away from the famous Alsace wine route and the winegrowers villages, 20 minutes away from Colmar and 35 minutes from Strasbourg.
