Anemona House – 500 m from Big Waterfall

Anemona House is a calm, natural retreat in the very heart of Plitvice Lakes National Park, just 500 meters from the magnificent Big Waterfall, the highest in Croatia at 78 meters. Surrounded by primordial nature, it offers the perfect balance of comfort and privacy. Ideal for couples, families (with or without children), solo adventurers, hikers, and nature lovers, this welcoming home provides a serene escape in one of the most beautiful and tranquil settings imaginable. The space Our house is located in the very heart of Plitvice Lakes National Park, just 500 meters from the Big Waterfall. Anemona House offers a comfortable stay with a full equipped kitchen, dining area, three spacious bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a large living room - ideal for families or small groups. The house is tucked away in a quiet, secluded part of the village, providing a peaceful retreat from everyday life and the crowds. After a day spent exploring the park, guests can relax in the private garden, surrounded by unspoiled nature and the calming sounds of birdsong, with the occasional squirrel darting through the pine trees. At dawn, nature awakens gently: squirrels leap, cats wander, and sometimes a deer or rabbit appears. The wilderness stays far away, keeping your stay peaceful and safe. Guest access Guests have full, private access to the entire house, including the garden and all amenities. Other things to note We are a family living and working in Zagreb - my husband and I are civil engineers, and our son is an economics student. We always make an effort to personally welcome our guests. However, if our work commitments prevent us from meeting you in person, we will inform you in advance about the self check-in procedure. We’ve recently partly renovated the house next door for occasional use for our private use only. If we manage to align our work obligations with some free time, we may stay there briefly, usually on weekends, partly to avoid long summer drives. Please be assured that your privacy will always be fully respected. We keep a low profile and are only nearby if needed. You will also receive all the necessary information about the National Park and the surrounding area, including nearby restaurants, grocery stores, and available activities. Note: Since the whole National Park is a protected area, and so is Plitvica Selo (Plitvica Village) where Anemona House is located, all grocery stores are outside the protected zone, on the main road, about 6 km from our house. To save time, we recommend buying groceries on your way here. Please also be aware that there is no public transport to Plitvica Selo (Plitvica Village). While there are plenty of restaurants in the wider area (and I’m happy to recommend some!), they are all located outside the protected lake zone and are best reached by car. Just a heads up: The area can get busy throughout the year, especially during the summer months. Most local restaurants don’t take reservations - you’ll usually get a table on a first-come, first-served basis. If you’d like tips or recommendations for where to eat, feel free to ask! Staying here means immersing yourself in pure nature and the unique tranquility of a UNESCO-protected environment-perfect for guests seeking peace and a true escape from city life. You only need a ticket on the days when you visit designated areas of the park. ***** ***** ***** 7 bikes on request, free of charge Remark: Cycling right next to the lakes is not allowed by the National Park Plitvice Lakes administration ***** ***** ***** Occasionaly, when our son has faculty or work duties and our labrador cross called Alf can not stay alone in our home in Zagreb, Alf will be with us to greet you at check-in, but he stays outside, dog will be only in the yard and the dog never enter into the house! Of course, Alf is back with us in Zagreb :o) If you're allergic, mention it to us beforehand and we'll make sure he doesn't get too close.
