The cottage was built with convict labour around 1838; and, in 2018 the current owners commissioned a contemporary extension that would result in a thoroughly modern home that would respect the history and Tasmanian context of the heritage cottage. The cottage has four bedrooms. The two ground floor bedrooms both have double beds - one a king-size and the other a queen size. Upstairs, two cosy dormer rooms are furnished with king-single beds (120 cm wide). Furnishings have been selected for comfort and style. The living area is a spacious glass-walled living area that opens directly onto the contemporary cottage garden. There are views across Kelly street to the waterfront and distant hills. A well-equipped kitchen features a brass bench, Siemens refrigerator, freezer, induction stovetop and intelligent oven, toaster and jug; all the crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils needed to cook a great meal. The main bathroom features a luxury white-stoned bath, walk-in shower and brass fittings. A second, shared bathroom includes a railing and shower seat for disabled guests. Hairdryer, towels, snuggly throws and bathrobes. The wood-panelled dining room features a beautiful timber dining table and seating for six.
