Fáilte! Welcome to the newly refurbished O Cathain farmhouse nestling on the foothills of Mount Eagle. Close to the Blasket Islands, the wide sandy beach of Ventry, Páidí Ó Sé's pub and restaurant. This is a secluded house off the wild and rugged Slea Head route. Situated in a close knit community with a thriving Irish language culture. Suitable for families with children and those interested in Irish culture or the sporting and adventure amenities of the Dingle Peninsula. The space Its panoramic views capture the glorious picturesque village of Ventry, with its magnificent 3 mile sandy beach and the shifting light of the peninsula skies as the weather rolls by. Within walking distance of the village which has two pubs, restaurants, post office, coffee shop and church. The Dingle Peninsula has one of the largest Gaeltacht (gaelic-speaking) communities in Ireland. So you'll find many of the locals are bi-lingual – speaking Irish as their mother tongue, a lovely lyrical English to their visitors, and often a mix of the two. They'll tell you “fáilte romhat isteach – you're most welcome here” in both languages – with a warmth and cadence of greeting that's unmistakable and unforgettable. Maybe it's that living culture, deep-rooted and handed-down through generations, that gives this place such a strong creative spirit. Maybe it's the simple, natural vibe that lets you slow down and go-with-the-flow. Join us and escape from it all. Guest access Guests have the full use of the house. The house is situated at the end of a lane, just off the main Slea Head road. Access to the farm, beyond the house, is prohibited. Ample parking at the house. Small garden with patio at rear of the house, with a picnic bench. Other things to note Open fire with fuel provided as well as oil central heating. Travel cot available, but no stair gates.
