The space Montalto in Toscana - Casa del Guardia was the game-keeper’s house; with its large common areas, including a living room, an eat-in kitchen, a front patio and a rear terrace, it is ideal for a family with children. From the living room, two steps down give access to a spacious combination kitchen-dining room, full of light, with high beamed ceilings, windows on two sides, and large fireplace. One bedroom has a bathroom en suite and the two other bedrooms share a second bathroom. Both bathrooms have shower over tub. In two bedrooms the beds can be united as a queen or separated as twin singles; in the third bedroom the bed is necessarily queen. At the front of the house is a vine-shaded patio with table and chairs for outdoor dining; at the rear, accessed through the master bedroom, is a panoramic terrace overlooking the valley with a spectacular view of the sunset. The castle of Montalto in Tuscany is a medieval hamlet with over 1000 years of history, surrounded by woods and farmland in the lovely and unspoiled Chianti hills near Siena. Ten carefully restored villas and apartments, including a wing of the inner castle, are offered directly by the owner as self-catering accommodations sharing the swimming pool. With its private chapel and banquet room, the castle is a spectacular venue for weddings and events. Guest access The estate has a swimming pool, tennis court, bocce ball court, laundry facilities and private garden areas. Enjoy the independence of a self-catering villa with all the advantages of a concierge's assistance. There are many activities you can do right here at Montalto. We also have a bocce court for sand bowling and a covered ping-pong table. You are welcome to play tennis on our (old) court, which has a surface of synthetic grass and sand, and if you prefer asphalt or clay there are tennis clubs in Siena that accept temporary guests. For health and wellness, we have miles of trails and dirt roads for walking and jogging, on and around our 700-acre estate, and a small work-out bench with weights for exercising. Right on the border of the Montalto estate is an excellent horse-back riding school and equestrian center, where lessons in English mount and jumping are available, and interesting guided tours on horse-back through the countryside are organized daily. They also have a summer camp for children in June.
