I'd be delighted to pick & drop you off at the train station, so let me know- and if you'd like to stay a month or more just send me an inquiry of the dates you want and i will send you the special offer of $2300 !! This country craftsman schoolhouse has 4 renovated 750 Sq. ft classroom lofts, each with it's own private back entrance. I guess there's no need to tout the perks of this place, being in a park setting, totally removed from any living soul with acres and acres to stroll and explore. The cemetery that surrounds this Craftsmen 4 room School House is located in the midst of one of the most gorgeous historic cemeteries in all of America, and a short 15 minute walk to the Town square. Tailored after the cemeteries in Europe, it was created as a park to entice visitors. Many Hudson River School Painters made this their final resting place as well as famous inventors and titans of Industry. It is verily like walking through a 3 D history lesson. You will have access to this 750 sq.ft. classroom of the School House which has been converted into a studio loft space with a kitchen, bathroom, living space and king size bed. You may also use the washer & dryer located in the basement if you wish. You would be doing yourself a great disadvantage not to explore this wonderful Park Cemetery and we have new bikes for you to do so!! ENJOY!!!! My partner and I use the other upstairs classroom as our studio apartment in the Summer & Fall, so we'll be around to help out or answer any questions, and one of my Cockatoos feels it is his business to meet every single living soul who enters the building. If you could humor him that would be nice. In the Winter we may or may not be here cause we like to fly the coop to warmer skys, but there will always be someone here to help!! I love that this place is a haven, a quiet place for contemplation, writing or artful pursuits and that it is a 10 minute walk to Warren street and all its delights!!! This place is also IDEAL for the athletic. There are miles of winding paths everywhere.... FOR OUR WINTER GUESTS: a 10 minute walk in Winter can feel more like an hour when it's bitter cold. Remind whoever greets you to show you the shortcut through the cemetery and think twice about not just getting a taxi to Warren. its only a 2 minute drive .... There are no bad places to eat but some of my favorites are Le Gamin Country for breakfast or Lunch (Ive never had a bad meal there and the ambience is wonderful). and for take out I love The Taste of The Caribbean, right down the hill on the Square next to the St Charles. It's the best bang for your buck. $15 for a plate of food you'll be finishing the next morning with your eggs ..Curry Goat, pulled or Barbequed chicken and Oxtail. SO good. BUT and THIS IS IMPORTANT: ask Anne Marie when you walk in, if she can accommodate within 7 minutes, and that you are in a hurry.. otherwise you might be there on Caribbean Time ;) There is also The Hudson Curry House if you like Indian... but it is on Fairview Ave, so you'd have to drive or cab it.. but it's only minutes away. No need really for a car in the Summer, unless you are unable to walk, as Warren is so close- but if you do have a car there is ample space to park in our lot. If you are taking the train I would be more than happy to pick you up in the Summer & Fall when I am here, and yes it is walkable but not preferable with luggage and going up hill, especially in Winter It's only a 2 minute Cab drive to our building which is at the other end of Warren street and across the street from Columbia Memorial hospital. We are but a 10 - 15 minute walk into town. Please keep in mind that this listing is the very essence of the uniqueness that defines Airbnb. It is an old building with all that implies. Built in 1900 it was a school for 50 to 60 years, then a Tool Factory. Bought in the 90's by Artist & NYC Art Dealer Robert Pardo as an experimental Museum, Exhibition & Studio Space, it has hosted many Artist in Residence & provided them alternative live work space over the years. It retains its original charm even with the additions of kitchen and bathroom to each "classroom". This place is not advised for those looking for a generic & steril hotel room type stay! It's old with many rough edges, ... artists have lived here!! and spiders conspire while I sleep, as to wear they will spin their next web just to piss me off. So please be ready to cope with idiosyncrasies of a Century old building that has survived floods, 117 winters, paint splatterings and the less than kind ravages of time! This listing can accommodate 3, if two are sharing the King bed, but please be aware that this accommodation is the shaggy sofa bed pictured or we can drag out the air mattress
