Our peaceful 3-bedroom home sleeps 8 and offers the perfect balance of comfort, nature, and accessibility. Relax by the fire, grill on the deck, cook s'mores over the firepit, or load up the kayaks - whether you're after a relaxing family vacation, a forest office, or an adventure basecamp, Stone's Throw is the spot. The space Stone's Throw is a hidden gem with so much to offer, including: A sprawling, private backyard surrounded by lush trees; A large deck for BBQs, relaxing, or wildlife spotting; An outdoor firepit and plenty of chairs to enjoy some s’mores and firefly viewing; A cozy dining and living room, replete with comfortable furniture, large windows and great natural lighting, and a two-sided gas fireplace; Fast, reliable Wi-Fi, a dedicated workspace, and two portable workspace options so you can work remotely in comfort with tranquil forest views; A fully equipped kitchen, washer/dryer, a half bath, and a full bath with a bathtub; An entire room dedicated to a large collection of toys and games for all ages; and Kayaks, bicycles, and other toys and equipment for outdoor excercize and adventure. In addition, we call our vacation home Stone's Throw because it's just a "stone's throw" from so many activities and adventures in the area, including: Hundreds of world-class hikes in the White Mountains and Presidentials, including those in Franconia Notch (15-20 minutes away) and Crawford Notch (35-45 minutes away); Majestic forest waterfalls and ponds, lakes, rivers, and streams for kayaking, fishing, and swimming; Several of the best ski resorts on the East Coast, phenomenal rock and ice climbing, and a vast network of trails for mountain biking and snow mobiling; Quaint mountain towns with shops, cozy restaurants, breweries, and beer gardens; Beloved local attractions like the famous Ice Castles (~30 minutes), the Ammonoosuc Rail Trail & the Parker Mountain biking trails (5 minutes), the Cog Railway (~45 minutes), the Cannon Mountain Tramway (15-20 minutes), Whale's Tale Waterpark (~30 minutes), Santa’s Village (~30 minutes), Clark's Bears (~30 minutes), minigolf (20-40), the Flume Gorge and the Basin (20-30 minutes), the historic Mount Washington Hotel & Omni resort (~30 minutes), christmas tree farms and apple orchards, and many others; and Endless natural areas of stunning beauty to soak in while you do any or all of the above. Guest access We provide two complimentary kayaks, paddles, and adult life vests on site.   A limited number of additional kayaks and canoes, as well as a kayak roof rack, are available for rent. We are also happy to arrange transportation and pickup services whenever we have availability.   If you’re new to kayaking or canoeing, and would prefer a lesson, or you want a guided tour of the marshes, ponds, and backwaters of New Hampshire, we are happy to arrange one if available. We also keep two complimentary bicycles on site for your use, with a limited number of additional bicycles available for rent. Our goal is to get you outdoors, enjoying the beauty of our mountains and valleys. We're available to help with information, ideas, and assistance. We live on the adjacent property. You're welcome to follow the path through the trees to enjoy our three acre meadow for walking, picnicing, and enjoying the views across Crawford Notch to Franconia Notch and the Presidentials. Other things to note Please note that we will infrequently need to access the basement through an exterior door separate from the guest spaces in order to obtain items for our specialty foods business. If we have to visit, it will be brief and we will let you know ahead of time.
